The 4-H program in Manitoba and across Canada delivers opportunity for youth to develop personally in areas of self confidence, responsibility, and leadership. Life skills are gained through many hands-on project offerings, in addition to communication, leadership, problem solving, and goal setting skills. This leaves young people with attributes that will follow them through both their professional and personal lives. What is 4-H? Projects Activities

Going with Flow
To follow Piotr Parasiewicz into the icy waters of the Mill River on an early spring afternoon is to get to know a stream in an entirely new way - as a living thing, perhaps, with a personality defined by words like "riffle" and "ruffle." "Every river has a face, a personality, a pulse," notes Parasiewicz who heads UMass Amherst's Northeast Instream Habitat Program , a new multidisciplinary research initiative aimed at assessing river habitats and predicting how those habitats will be impacted by changes in stream flow. "We always walk the stream before we start taking measurements," he notes. "It is a process of learning to see. Things change dramatically as you walk. Your perspective changes." At the same time, however, Parasiewicz insists that any unit of moving water can be described in fairly precise terms - terms that call on a vocabulary and grammar standardized largely by Parasiewicz himself. This relationship was designed to help foster 4-H youth development programming for Polish youth and to foster cultural sharing that can enhance programming in both countries. Today, this partnership supports and helps coordinate annual exchange visits by youth, volunteers and 4-H professionals in both Poland and the U.S. The Michigan 4-H Foundation also serves as a lead organization in the United States for helping to connect 4-H in Poland with U.S. programs and resources for program development and growth.

is where learning for living is fun!
Campers need not be 4-H members or live in towns near the camp. They sometimes attend with a friend and can request to be in the same cabin if they are the same age and sex. Transportation to and from camp is the responsibility of the parent. Campers arrive at camp for one-week sessions on Sunday afternoons and depart after a closing program on Friday night. (Departure is Saturday morning at Hartford.) Each camp has an open house in the spring for families to visit and meet the director. Call for dates or other arrangements to visit the facilities. We offer one of the biggest camping bargains around! Camp fees are kept low with the help of numerous 4-H volunteers who work throughout the year to raise money in support of the camp program and spend hours maintaining the facilities. Welcome to Cabernet Creek Farms home of "vintage quality" llamas. A small, select operation, Cabernet Creek specializes in producing llamas with superb dispositions and great conformation. Cabernet Creek Llamas can be found nestled in the shadow of magnificent Mt. Hood. Whether for fiber, packing, guardians, or just as a companion, our llamas are bred to be structurally correct, reproductively sound, and of excellent disposition. By utilizing the best of both the North and South American bloodlines, we are able to produce outstanding out-crosses and maximize hybrid vigor. All crias are desensitized according to the Mallon Method at birth and weaned at between 5-6 months of age. Our studs are carefully selected and then paired with appropriate females to optimize the best features of both parents. All llamas are sold with full reproductive guarantees unless otherwise specified, with only our most outstanding males sold as future herdsires. Rigorous health programs, which include worming, vaccinations, and vitamin supplements, are implemented year-round. Having ample acreage allows for optimum physical and emotional development of the young llamas. Having a somewhat small herd, we are able to carefully manage our breeding program. We have a very select group of llamas available for sale at any time, including:
