To learn more, please contact your local 4-H office How 4-H Families Can Help 4-H Families and Citizens in the Gulf States Impacted by Hurricane Katrina In this time of crisis in the Gulf States there are many ways that you can help 4-H families and citizens in Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. Here are some requests for help that we have received from Mississippi and Louisiana as well as a proposed Massachusetts 4-H fundraiser to benefit the hurricane relief efforts. Mississippi Operation 4-H Relief: For the 4-H families and young people in shelters or in isolated areas without power and services, the days are getting long and the young people are getting restless. Mississippi is designing activity boxes that will contain lesson plans, 4-H coloring books, curricula and activities for kids and parents. The Mississippi 4-H Foundation has set up a separate account for hurricane relief. Funds will go directly to 4-H families as well as to purchase supplies for the activity boxes. To contribute to this fund, make your check payable to the Mississippi 4-H Foundation and mail it to Operation 4-H Relief, Dr. Susan Holder, Box 9601, Mississippi State, MS, 39762.
