http://www.radford.edu/~geog-web/general.html
A good geographer is the epitome of a good generalist. The General Concentration is designed for the student who wants a broad but structured overview of geography. It also allows for the development of competency in a particular region, in a topical sub-discipline, or in geographic techniques. The concentration is appropriate for students simply curious about the world or those wishing the flexibility to pursue either a variety of careers or a graduate degree in geography, or, perhaps, wanting to join the Peace Corps. After completing the core courses, each student designs a coherent and focused program in studies in consultation with is/her advisor.
Curriculum
GEOGRAPHY CORE COURSES: Physical Geography, Human Geography, Map Interpretation, World Geography (Europe and the Americas or Africa and Asia), and one 200-level regional course chosen by the student. REQUIRED GEOGRAPHY COURSES: a second 200-level regional course, 3 topical courses, and 1 geographic techniques course. OTHER REQUIRED COURSES: two additional 200-level or higher geography courses of the student's choice and three 200-level or higher courses from fields related to geography and the student's focus.

Geography
Bulgaria is situated in Southeastern Europe in a crossroad between Europe, Asia and Africa. It borders the Black Sea to the east, Turkey and Greece to the south, Serbia and the F.Y.R.O.M. to the west and Romania to the north. The country occupies a total area of 110 910 sq km. The climate is temperate continental, tending to Mediterranean in the southern region, with 4 seasons - cold damp winters and hot dry summers, mild autumns and short rainy springs. This enables you to travel all-the-year round. The relief of Bulgaria varies. The mountaineous areas predominate, occupying almost one quarter of the country's territory. The Balkan Range or Stara Planina cross the country from west to east dividing Bulgaria into 2 almost equal parts. The southern part is mostly occupied by the mountains Pirin, Rila (with Mussala, the highest peak of the Balkan Pensinsula - 2925 m) and Rhodopi which form a large massif. To the north lies the biggest Bulgarian lowlands area, the Danubean plate. Small and fertile valleys are spread between the Balkan Range and its lower sub-mountains. The most famous of the them is the Rose Valley where the rose oil is produced.

Geographically, Europe is a part of the larger landmass known as Eurasia . The continent begins at the Ural Mountains in Russia , which defines Europe's eastern boundary with Asia . The southeast boundary with Asia isn't universally defined, with either the Ural or Emba rivers serving as possible boundaries, continuing with the Caspian Sea , and either the Kuma and Manych rivers or the Caucasus mountains as possibilities, and onto the Black Sea ; the Bosporus , the Sea of Marmara , and the Dardanelles conclude the Asian boundary. The Mediterranean Sea to the south separates Europe from Africa . The western boundary is the Atlantic Ocean , but Iceland , much farther away than the nearest points of Africa and Asia , is also included in Europe. There is ongoing debate on where the
