Funding Resources SEARCH BAKER-NORD: MEET THE DIRECTORS : HUMANITIES WEEK 2005 Charles Cantalupo Charles Cantalupo is professor of English, comparative literature, and African studies at The Pennsylvania State University, Schuylkill Campus. He is the writer and director of the documentary film, Against All Odds (2004). His essays and poetry have appeared in numerous journals, and he has given lectures and readings throughout America, Europe, and Africa. Against All Odds: African Languages and Literatures into the 21st Century Film Screening and Lecture Tuesday, March 15, 11:30 am Clark Hall 309, 11130 Belflower Road Cantalupo will present his film, Against All Odds , about an historic conference and literary festival by the same title that brought 250 writers and scholars from 20 African countries and around the world to Asmara, Eritrea in January of 2000, forming a unique cultural coalition. What began as a conference became a movement, and Canalupo's The Asmara Declaration on African Languages and Literatures was soon ratified.
