Japan Environmental Education Forum (JEEF) is a corporation consisting of people who are engaging or/and interested in environmental education. Currently, there are over 1000 members. JEEF was established September 1992 by inheriting the spirit and activities of the Kiyosato Environmental Education Forum, which was established in 1987 and has been providing annual gatherings since then. Although its organizational history is short, less than a decade, the operations as well as organization has significantly grown in size, budget and diversity. Underneath this growth, there was an increasing need to develop and improve ways and means conducting environmental education in entire Japanese society. The JEEF now is a corporation, which is a nonprofit public benefit corporation. It was organized in 1997 under Civil Law Act, Article 34 for public and charitable purposes. The purposes of the JEEF are; to research and provide opportunities for general public, especially younger generations to experience the beauty, diversity and wonder of the natural environment; to develop and enhance the network of organizations as well as individuals for better communications in the field of environmental education; to ensure learning opportunities for the instructors, experienced instructors and the people who are interested in obtaining skills for experiential environmental/outdoor education; to assist and conduct joint projects with other nations, especially developing nations in the Asia-Pacific region, to share the knowledge and experiences in this subject matter; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives.
