Re-engineering Schools
School re-engineering is a process in which schools use educational research, theory, and experience to reshape the rules, roles, and relationships of the school, district, and community for the primary purpose of improving student performance. When a school "re-engineers" it is:
  • thoughtfully applying new practices that come from a knowledge base of research, theory, and experience rather than simply trying something because it is new;
  • seeking to alter its basic structure and organizational culture to build capacity for long-term improvement rather than making minor alterations of old routines; and
  • making a commitment to continuously improve so that all students can be successful rather than giving up on the school or some groups of students.

Introduction Print
The importance of machinebuilding, metalworking and electronics (engineering industry) both in Estonian exports as well as imports has increased remarkably during recent years when Estonia is preparing for EU membership. Today this branch of industry with its long-lasting traditions is one of the leading branches of the Estonian economy (output over 447 000 EUR in 2000, about 17% from total industrial output).The number of employees in the industry exceeds 10 000. Half of the 400 enterprises in the engineering industry are situated in Tallinn and its nearby regions while the main part of vacant production capacity is located farther from Tallinn. Taking into account the relatively well-developed network of roads, railways and ports all enterprises wherever in Estonia they are located, are potentially suitable partners for foreign firms. Two-thirds of the total number of nearly 20,000 people who are engaged in the engineering industry are working in companies with over 100 employees. The Tallinn Technical University, Higher Technical School and high level vocational schools specializing in the field of engineering ensure qualified engineers and workforce for Estonian enterprises.

Through its Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC), CIR designs these mobility aids so that they can be made locally in low-income countries using materials that are widely available and cost a fraction of the price of traditional devices. Technical briefs are available with more information on CIR products. Prosthetic Sockets : The CIR Sand Casting System vacuum packs sand to create replicas of the amputee's limb for the fabrication of lower extremity prosthetic sockets. This portable technique developed by Dr. Yeongchi Wu, reduces production time for socket fabrication from eight hours to one hour and uses recyclable materials, allowing for easier service and delivery to the remote regions. Analysis of Well Test Responses in Gas Condensate Reservoirs
    Advanced techniques are required to derive accurate skin values in the two-phase fluid systems, which form when pressure drops below the bubble point. This quantity contains contributions from the mechanical, non-Darcy and liquid dropout components. Many remedial well treatments (acidification, hydraulic fractures, etc) have been designed on such incorrect analysis. The resulting lack of treatment success leading to an unnecessary increase in operating costs. This work used the steady-state, two phase pseudopressure in the same manner as the familiar single-phase pseudopressure analogue. A 1D compositional simulation model was used to generate the input data for the well test interpretation.
