Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine
The Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine (DHMCREM) is an integrated residency program composed of five affiliated institutions and based at Denver Health Medical Center. At this site you can learn about: Photographs used in this web site are courtesy of Jack Affleck, Craig Gravitz, Kevin Huston, Gary Isaacs, Lee Park, Bart Chandler, Lee Shockley, the Denver Health Medical Center Department of Public Relations and Marketing, and the Denver Chamber of Commerce. Why is the domain name "dghems" when the institution's name is the "Denver Health Medical Center"? Until January 1997, the institution was known as "Denver General Hospital". At that time, the Department of Health and Hospitals, a department of the Denver City and County government, became a free-standing, quasi-governmental, health authority. With that change came the adoption of the new name, "Denver Health Medical Center". The hospital, however, is the same and the patients that we serve are the same. The residency program decided to keep the same domain name (dghems.org) to honor the dedicated men and women who have worked at Denver General Hospital over the years, making it one of the best known emergency medicine residency programs in the country.
