http://www.emedmag.com/html/ser/aut/aut.asp
Emergency Medicine: Acute Medicine for the Primary Care Physician reaches approximately 150,000 readers, 85% of whom are office-based, primary care physicians (IMs, FPs, GPs, and DOs) and 15% of whom are emergency medicine specialists.
ARTICLE OBJECTIVES Articles in Emergency Medicine are intended to provide readers with practical, clinical information, tips that will help improve their diagnostic and management skills in acute-care situations. "Acute" refers to problems that, although not necessarily life-threatening, do require immediate attention or referral. Such problems range from chest pain to trauma to sudden dizziness, and may represent new, acute presentations in themselves or an acute phase of a chronic disorder. Most of our articles have relevance for both segments of our audience, the primary care and emergency physician. Outside of urban centers, for example, the office-based clinician is often the first person who sees a patient in acute distress. And even if the primary care physician refers the patient, rather than treats him, recognition and presumptive diagnosis of an acute problem is as important in the office as in the emergency department. Conversely, of course, urban emergency departments are major deliverers of primary care.
