Curriculum connections: Social studies (human rights, economics) Students may not be aware that slavery continues in the present-day world. This story and lesson plan can build awareness of the need to press for international human rights. Objectives Students will be able to:
  • Discuss the present situation of human trafficking, especially of children.
  • Create materials that inform others of the slavery situation in Africa.
  • Evaluate current documents addressing children's rights and human rights in terms of their completeness and effectiveness, and propose ways to entice nations to uphold these documents.
  • Analyze reasons that human trafficking continues and construct a proposal to raise economic levels of the poorest countries (challenge).
