http://www.geog.buffalo.edu/geography/programs/phd/itc.shtml
The Department of Geography offers advanced graduate students the opportunity to define an individualized research program in international economic and business geographies. This rapidly growing area of study is concerned with the spatial configuration and organization of firms, industries, and territories within the emerging global economy in all of its economic, political, and cultural manifestations. Special attention is given to the forces of globalization and their impacts upon spatial-economic systems over time; economic agglomeration and industrial clustering; the growth and decline of regions and industrial districts; corporate strategy, competition, business networks, and innovation; the shifting patterns of international trade, foreign direct investment, labor-market development, and the location of production; political-economic organization of production and investment systems; and the restructuring of spatial-economic systems at local, national, and global levels. Heightened Interest The past decade has seen a significant heightening of interest in issues of space and location, and in their relationship to international business and industrial geography.

19. Association Of American Geographers
We are as dependent on other nations as they are upon us. For both thesejobs, some business background in addition to economic geography can be helpful
http://www.aag.org/Careers/Economic_Geography.html
Economic Geography
E conomic geography is concerned with the location and distribution of economic activity. It focuses on the the location of industries and retail and wholesale businesses, on transportation and trade, and on the changing value of real estate. Courses in economic geography may cover such topics as transportation, agriculture, industrial location, world trade, and the spatial organization and function of business activity. Students who have a strong interest in economic geography will be likely to see global interdependence as a focus of their academic program. In America in Transition: The International Frontier, a recent report of the National Govenor's Association, the following statement was made:
Times have changed. Revolutionary advances in science, technology, communications, and transportation have brought nations and peoples together. World trade, and financial, economic, and political developments have transformed disparate economic systems into a highly interdependent global marketplace. Today the nations that inhabit the planet are often more closely linked than neighboring states or villages were at the turn of the century.

Business Review FOURTH QUARTER 2003
As technological advances continue to expand the range of financial services available to consumers, money management becomes increasingly complicated. Helping consumers navigate this sea of financial products is important. When households are capable of building wealth, they are also capable of building more economically stable neighborhoods and communities. That's one reason economic education is vital to the future health of our nation's economy. In "Knowledge Is Power: The Importance of Economic Education," President Anthony Santomero outlines what the Federal Reserve is doing to promote economic education and explains why knowledge is indeed power in our ever more complex world. Our next article discusses agglomeration economies - a concentration of workers and businesses in one location. Specifically, it looks at why employment is heavily concentrated in the cities of industrially developed countries. Most economists believe that in the absence of agglomeration economies, the spatial distribution of employment would be much more even. In "Agglomeration Economies: The Spark That Ignites a City?"
