The impact of Ebola on people and Great Apes
What is Ebola and how is it transmitted?
Ebola haemorrhagic fever is one of the most virulent viral diseases known to humankind, causing death in 50-90% of all clinically ill cases. The Ebola virus is transmitted by direct contact with the bodily fluids or organs of infected persons, or by handling ill or dead apes. The incubation period for the disease is 2 to 21 days. What are the symptoms of Ebola and how can it be treated?

2005 Outbreak of Marburg:
A major outbreak of Marburg Haemorrhagic Fever, a deadly virus disease, in 2005 in Angola Africa; see the discussion on this page and also this page on the King James Bible Code on Marburg and Ebola diseases. Can the Bible Code help us find the animal vector hiding place, the carrier host animal where the virus hides between outbreaks? This we will try to do. We will run the King James Bible Code to search for answers on the Marburg and Ebola Hemmorrhagic Fever viruses: where does it hide? There must be an animal host it hides in between outbreaks. This animal it must live in and not kill. But what is this host vector animal? A bat or an insect? A mammal?
Recent History:
In early 2003, there was an outbreak of Ebola Hemmorhagic Fever disease in the Congo Republic in Africa, in the Cuvette West region, in the towns of Kelle, Mbomo, and Yembelangoye, near the Gabon border. This outbreak may have related to Saturn being at its brightest in many years in December 2002 and early 2003, and therefore there was a high Satanic energy at this time, as I discuss on the calendar pages. In early June 2003 the outbreak of Ebola in the Congo was ended with 128 deaths in 143 cases. And in October-December 2003 there was an outbreak of Ebola in the Congo, in the Northwest Cuvette Ouest area, Mbomo District, with 29 deaths of 42 cases. This outbreak had begun in Mbanza, after a family ate a dead wild boar. Astrologically this outbreak may relate to Dec. 11 2003, when Pluto the Death planet was in conjunction with the sun, and also at the end of December 2003 Saturn (Satan) was at opposition and its highest point in the sky in 30 years. And in the first half of 2004 there was an Ebola outbreak in the Sudan. And in 2005 there was a very deadly high death rate Marburg virus outbreak in Angola Africa, which in particular is killing young children.

Ebola's Deadly Secrets Researchers Identify Two Main Targets for the Virus; Progress Made in Developing Vaccine A team of HHMI researchers has found a possible clue to how the Ebola virus consumes the human body so quickly. In studies published in today's issue of the journal Science, "We're far from understanding in molecular detail why this virus is so deadly," said Nabel, "but we now know at least two of the virus's primary targets in the human body." Ebola virus contains seven genes that encode eight proteins. Two of the proteins, a transmembrane glycoprotein (GP)that is expressed on the surface of the virus, and a secreted form of GP (sGP) are produced from a single gene. Researchers have suspected that GP and sGP are involved in Ebola's ability to evade the immune system and cause hemorrhagic fever. Despite their suspicions, scientists have had little idea of what GP and sGP are actually doing during the course of infection. Once Nabel was convinced that his laboratory could safely handle work on these proteins, his team set about the task of figuring out the function of GP and sGP. They began by inserting DNA encoding the proteins into human cells and asked which cell types these "transfected" Ebola glycoproteins adhered to. Nabel says he was surprised when his team found that sGP bound to neutrophils through a specialized receptor found on those cells. In contrast, GP-transfected cells preferentially attached to endothelial cells. This was determined by putting Ebola GP onto the surface of a mouse retroviral vector which carried a reporter gene to detect infection.

Ebola suspected in nine deaths in Congo Republic
Possible outbreak probed in region prone to disease
Story Tools BRAZZAVILLE, Republic of Congo (Reuters) Nine people have died in a suspected outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in a remote forest region of the Congo Republic where 120 people died of the disease earlier this year, officials said Friday. YOUR E-MAIL ALERTS Ebola Republic of Congo World Health Organization (WHO) or Create your own Manage alerts What is this? Health Minister Alain Moka said the disease appeared to have broken out again near Mbomo, about 440 miles (700 kilometers) north of the central African nation's capital, Brazzaville, and just across the border from Gabon, in a region known as Cuvette-Ouest. "We just had a meeting about the resurgence of the Ebola virus in Cuvette-Ouest," he told reporters in Brazzaville. There is no known cure for Ebola, which is passed by infected body fluids and kills between 50 and 90 percent of its victims, depending on the strain. The disease damages the blood vessels and can cause bleeding, diarrhea and shock. "A group of hunters went into the forest and in spite of the advice given, they collected the meat of a dead boar ... Nine of them died. The only survivor is a young schoolboy who refused to touch the game," Moka said.

Purdue works to transform Ebola virus from killer to healer
While replacing the infection-causing genes inside an ordinarily harmful retrovirus with helpful genetic material is a relatively common research practice, David Sanders and his colleagues have gone a step beyond this technique. The group, which also includes Anthony Sanchez of the Centers for Disease Control and Purdue graduate student Scott Jeffers, has hit upon a way to simplify Ebola's outer shell as well, rendering it more easily produced in a laboratory and more effective at delivering genes to defective cells. Since unmodified Ebola enters through, and attacks, the lungs, defective lung cells could benefit most from therapy based on this discovery. "We are adding a new tool to the gene-therapy toolbox," said Sanders, associate professor of biological sciences in Purdue's School of Science. "Up to this point, modified retroviruses could only be injected. Now we have a potential method of treating lung conditions with an inhaled retrovirus that is more easily produced in the lab than the version found in nature." The research appears in Sunday's (12/15) Journal of Virology.

Purdue research hints that birds could spread Ebola virus
David Sanders and his research group have discovered that the outer protein shell of Ebola has a biochemical structure similar to several retroviruses carried by birds. As scientists had known previously of genetic similarity among the viruses, this discovery makes a common evolutionary origin even more likely. It also suggests that Ebola could be spread to human populations by birds as well. "We knew these viruses were inwardly similar, and now we see their outer similarity as well," said Sanders, associate professor of biological sciences in Purdue's School of Science. "While bird transmission of Ebola is by no means certain, the resemblance among all these viruses should encourage health officials to be on guard for it." The research appears in Sunday's (12/15) Journal of Virology. Two contributors to the group's research are Scott Jeffers, a graduate student in Sanders' laboratory, and Anthony Sanchez, an Ebola virus expert at the Centers for Disease Control. Since its discovery in 1976, Ebola has been responsible for hundreds of deaths in central Africa. Though the source of the virus in nature remains unknown, both humans and monkeys appear susceptible. Death rates of between 50 percent and 90 percent are common during outbreaks.

The symptoms of the disease have led some experts to speculate that Ebola virus could be the cause. Mainland internet BBS circulated a transcript of an interview with a Sichuan doctor who discussed the facts of this mystery disease in detail. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has prohibited news coverage, and has forbidden the use of the words ‘Ebola virus’ in reports, instead requiring the use of alternate wording. On the evening of July 22, CCP Central Television (CCTV) reported that an unknown disease had been spreading in Sichuan Ziyang City during the past month and, at that time, 20 cases had been discovered, with nine fatalities and six people critically ill.

Uganda issues Ebola alert
KAMPALA, Uganda Uganda has issued an Ebola virus alert after the deaths of 28 people from haemorrhaging near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Sam Okware, Uganda's Ebola task force chairman, told Reuters on Monday: "We have been hearing of rumours of an outbreak of haemorrhagic fever in Congo and Gabon so we have put the districts on alert just in case it is Ebola." Doctors fear an outbreak of fever in the Congolese village of Misangandu, roughly 1,000 km (620 miles) southwest of Uganda, could be the dreaded Ebola virus. The World Health Organisation said at least 10 other people, including a nurse, had died of a mystery illness in the west African country of Gabon and attributed one of the deaths to the deadly virus. The WHO said in a weekly bulletin in Geneva on Friday that it had received reports of cases of suspected viral haemorrhagic fever which includes Ebola in Ogooue Iveindo province in the northeastern part of Gabon.
