Eating Disorders
Eating disorders can occur with other psychiatric disorders such as depressive disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, and panic or anxiety disorders. Those who suffer from eating disorders can experience a various physical health problems, including heart conditions and failure of the kidneys which could result in death. It is extremely important that you seek help for yourself or someone you know because eating disorders can be treated successfully. Eating is controlled by many factors, including appetite, food availability, family, peer, and cultural practices, and attempts at voluntary control. Dieting to a body weight leaner than needed for health is highly promoted by current fashion trends, sales campaigns for special foods, and in some activities and professions. Eating disorders involve serious disturbances in eating behavior, such as extreme and unhealthy reduction of food intake or severe overeating, as well as feelings of distress or extreme concern about body shape or weight. Researchers are investigating how and why initially voluntary behaviors, such as eating smaller or larger amounts of food than usual, at some point move beyond control in some people and develop into an eating disorder. Studies on the basic biology of appetite control and its alteration by prolonged overeating or starvation have uncovered enormous complexity, but in the long run have the potential to lead to new pharmacologic treatments for eating disorders.

To my guests This is an ED-support site, not a proana site. I hope you can fel like you are not alone. There are alot of us that feels like we are a failed anorexic. That is one of the reason being EDNOS with coe, ana and mia, is such a hard life. Hope you can feel welcome here.
I have changed my website, adding many photos. A friend of mine tipsed me about doing that, so hopefully it gets more giving seeing my site, than before. I really really appreciate all my guests here.... Even if I cannot answer all in my guestbook, I really appreciate it, and will try to answer those who want me to. About the photos: I personally like them. But some of them, those at the child abuse self-injury site, can be triggering........ It is a picture of cutting, the scars are fading, so it is no new ones, and a picture of a xylocaine ampull (local anaestethic). If you like the photos, please tell me, and if you get triggered by them and don't like them, let me know, and I will find other ones that are not triggering ...........
About this site I am 26, female and norwegian. I have EDNOS. I started out with COE from I was 15 till 24. Now I have been EDNOS for 2 years, with periods of both ANA and COE. I have wanted to build this site for a long time, and this is the first website I make, so pleae give me tips if I am not doing it right. I intend to give tips for controlling COE-phases, among other stuff. I just have to take it is it comes.

An eating disorder is a disturbance in eating behavior. Anorexia nervosa (anorexia) and bulimia nervosa (bulimia) are the eating disorders that are studied most often, and researchers estimate that nearly 7 million women in the United States suffer from anorexia or bulimia. A newly-recognized condition known as binge-eating disorder is considered the most common eating disorder. In the United States, it occurs in 0.7% to 4% of the population, meaning that 1 to 4 out of every 100 people have the disorder. Eating disorders affect women more often than men, but approximately 1 million men in the United States suffer from anorexia or bulimia, and millions more have binge-eating disorder. Eating disorders are more prevalent in industrialized countries and according to the American Psychiatric Association, they are most common in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and South Africa.

    What are Eating Disorders?
Eating disorders refers to a variety of disturbed eating behaviors, all associated with using food for emotional reasons. They range along a continuum from chronic dieting to compulsive overeating to cycles of binging and purging to self-starvation. While the frequency and severity of the problems differ, they all have in common turning to food as a way to cope with problems. Often, there is an underlying belief that being thinner would be a solution to troubles and demonstrate proof of control in one's life. Eating disorders are common among the college age population. The majority of individuals with eating disorders are women (about 90%) although men can also have eating disorders. Women are especially vulnerable to eating disorders because of the societal emphasis placed on appearance, external approval, and thinness as an ideal. The most frequent problem is chronic dieting (normative behavior among college women), followed by compulsive overeating, bulimia, and anorexia. The following descriptions of eating disorders focus on these four types, although keep in mind that not everyone fits a "type."

The author is a licensed counselor who successfully guided his soul mate toward a permanent spark of life through the pervasive dreary darkness of her severely incapacitating eating disorders. Read the amazing real life stories of how he helped his mate overcome the baffling bleakness of bulimia (book 1) over a few years and the absolute agony of severe anorexia (book 2) in a mere half year using his very own therapy (book 3). The third book provides an easily understood methodical explanation of how this dynamic new therapy was applied in the first book on bulimia and in the second on severe anorexia. The Trilogy is not a "war story" glorifying the horrors of eating disorders sufferers, but it is more a practical solution filled guide of what exactly should be done by those sufferers, their supporters, and therapists to effect the most affordable and longest lasting recovery possible. Amidst his prolonged assistance, the author was able to discover the

Eating disorders frequently develop during adolescence or early adulthood, but some reports indicate their onset can occur during childhood or later in adulthood.
