      The Story of the Resurrection
      from Matthew 28
      I
n the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow; And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not; for I know that ye seek Jesus, who was crucified.
He is not here; for he is risen, as he said.
Come see the place where the Lord lay.
And go quickly, and tell his disciples
that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee. There shall ye see him; lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from
the sepulcher with fear and great joy

Homeschool Teaching Your Child about Easter Written by Thomas Sanders Packing our car for trips is a big task. Everyone has different priorities about what should go and what will fit. It all sits in the driveway, waiting to be loaded. However, after three children and countless road trips to Texas and New Mexico, I have learned one little secret. The big important stuff goes in first. I know this is because I have started with the small stuff, the unimportant stuff, and the incidental stuff, only to discover that we had no room left for the important things like clothing or medicine. LifeWay Recommends Children Praise Jesus - Wooden Puzzle Our Price: $11.99 See Description This same principle is true when you teach preschoolers and children important truths from the Bible. If teaching a child biblical truths is going to be important and ongoing, it must be put first. This can be incredibly difficult during seasonal celebrations. The community, school, church, merchants, and family line up outside the car with many good, seemingly important things to load up. The problem is that space is limited. I feel this way especially near Easter and Christmas. Easter is the most significant Holy Day celebrated by Christians each year, but families and churches can be increasingly sidetracked by the secular marketing of this holiday. The temptation for families is either to leave the emphasis to their church via Sunday School teachers or to attempt to mix the secular theme with the sacred truth, therefore, confusing the child. The downside to either approach is that something important is left in the driveway. The Easter story stands alone and only requires the careful handling of the Bible by a loving parent or family member.

About Easter
Jesus Christ died on a cross on a Friday almost two thousand years ago. Christians believe that on the following Sunday, Christ rose from the dead and, in doing so, proved that He is the Son of God. The day Jesus died and was buried is known as Good Friday. The following Sunday is Easter. Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Son of God each year between March 22nd and April 25th (the first Sunday after the vernal equinox). Religious celebrations include family gatherings and special Easter church services. Check out the Jelly Bean Prayer or the Easter Story Cookies for a cute way to tell kids the story of Jesus.
So where do the Bunnies come in?
In olden times, Christian monks were very good at explaining their religion to those who hadn't heard of God or Jesus. They almost always took symbols of significance of the people they were teaching and used those symbols to teach about God. The timing of Easter was such that it coincided with the spring festivals of many pagan religions. (In northern Europe, the goddess of spring was Eostre some people say that Easter may have even gotten its name from this goddess).

By Amanda Bennett
Christians celebrate the heart of their faith during Easter, and this four-week study has been written to help parents and teachers share this important concept with their children. As we celebrate this season, we have the perfect opportunity to instill a better understanding of our faith and the reason for our joy at Easter.
The holidays of Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter or Resurrection Day are included in the study, as well as the events leading up to Jesus' ascension to Heaven. The study includes the people and places involved, helping your students investigate and understand these events, as well as their history and meaning.
Of all of the people and history that I would like for our children to understand and remember, it is the life of Jesus and His sacrifice that is most important. There is nothing as important as this throughout all time. EASTER is structured as a four-week study, spending each week on key features, with lesson plans for each day of the study. There are reading and writing assignments (Read and Discover), spelling and vocabulary words (Words of Wisdom), and biography and geography studies (People and Places to Know). Favorite books and Internet sites are included in the lesson plans as well as a large resource collection of Internet sites for each week of study. Each day's lesson plan has been written in two levels. There is a daily lesson plan for Elementary Grades, and one for Junior/Senior High Grades. 110 pages, printable for your family's use.

Suggestions, Questions and Answers for Easter Eggs
"EASTER EGGs for children"
Q. Any suggestions for Easter eggs for children? (from LRogers, March 1999) I teach high school and I am interested in teaching my students how to paint Ukrainian eggs. I worry about them breaking the eggs. Any suggestions? I am an elementary teacher and I have been teaching children to make pysanky as part of my math class. The kids love it. They get a math, history and art lesson all rolled up in a little egg! (from Margie, March 1999) I'm a first grade elementary teacher and would like your opinion on whether or not 7-8 year old students would be able to create eggs such as yours? (more simplistic, of course in design) I've been looking for something a little different for my students to create for Easter but I don't know if they could handle the steps involved. A. Candle fire is required for the formal decoration and the dye to be used for pysanky is a kind of poison. Therefore, you should be very careful for the decoration, especially for children. DO NOT allow children to practice this art without adult supervision.

Tradition
Sometimes tradition is acceptable and perhaps even pleasing in the sight of Yahweh . Sometimes it is not acceptable and is even hated by Him. The evil of traditions that transgress the commandment of Yahweh was a key teaching of Yahushua the Messiah Matt 15:1 (NKJV) Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Yahushua, saying, 2 "Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread." I hear people ask me this, "Why do you not celebrate Christmas (transgress the traditions of our elders)?". Nowhere in the pages of scripture do we find a command to keep the celebration of Christmas. Nowhere in the pages of scripture do we find an example of any disciple keeping Christmas. The only time Christmas is even mentioned in the pages of scripture is to condemn it (as we will see). So, my answer to this question would be, "Why do you also transgress the commandment of Elohim because of your tradition?". 3 He answered and said to them, "

http://www.dance.demon.co.uk/AGC/Articles/EasterGathering97.html
The 1997 Easter Gathering
by Andy Bettis ( andyb@isltd.insignia.com For many years now there has been an Easter Gathering in Britain, a chance for established and 'emerging' teachers and musicians to get together for a long weekend (the Friday and Monday are public holidays here) of dancing, playing and just hanging out together. This year was my fifth time and this is my own personal record of what went on, a set of memories and recollections rather that an official report. After a year away I thought I'd give it another go; it would be nice to dance with Laura without having to do lots of teaching, if I stayed at home I'd probably just stay in and catch up on chores, and the Easter festival still has a lot of magic for me - a time of death, birth and emergence, tied to an arcane and inexplicable dating method rather than a fixed astronomical event. Plus there was a new team in charge with new ideas about structure and layout; facilitators for the shared dance sessions, opportunities for people to lead short workshops rather than just one dance, more than one workshop going on at the same time, etc. etc. With fingers crossed we sent off a joint deposit. Laura and I set off early on Friday morning, avoiding what we later learned was a plague of traffic on the previous day. The drive took around two and a half hours, mostly on thinly-filled motorways but ending up with an interesting tour on some tiny country lanes. I love the idea of passing through 'transition' zones on a journey and this had all the hallmarks of a different reality; a half-hidden signpost, strange junctions (we crossed one where five roads just met with no signs or road markings), odd buildings (a huge church in the middle of nowhere), and unexpected fellow travellers, in this case a large, black-clad motorcyclist who suddenly appeared and roared past us. Eventually our destination came into view and we drove into the village on (what else?) a road that we'd never used before.
