Dyslexia is a learning disorder that effects a large portion of the population. Once it is diagnosed, it can be overcome, but undiagnosed it can prove to be a great hardship to people who have it, especially children in grade school who are trying to learn to read or do basic math. Dyslexia has recently been linked to genetics and to brain abnormalities. A lot of research and positive action is being conducted to help people, especially children, work around dyslexia so that they can function normally at school. However, not everyone sees dyslexia as a harmful thing. Many groups are dedicated to the creativity and artistic talent that usually goes hand in hand with dyslexia as well as many groups formed by dyslexics for dyslexics that provide support and an outlet for artistic endeavors. With research and new teaching techniques the effects of dyslexia can be overcome, but for some, that is not the goal. Researchers have been working on finding the root of dyslexia for years. While it is still unknown why and how dyslexia occurs, a lot of advancements have been made. Dyslexia is now sometimes classified as a genetic brain anomaly. The anomalies in a dyslexic's brain impair how they perceive and therefore learn language skills.

What are academic interventions for children and adults with dyslexia? Individuals with dyslexia learn best with a multisensory delivery of language content. Instruction that is multisensory employs all pathways of learning at the same time, seeing, hearing, touching, writing, and speaking. What is it?
The word 'dyslexia' is originally Greek and means 'difficulty with words'. Dyslexia is a congenital and developmental condition that causes neurological anomalies in the brain. It includes a range of types of learning difficulties where a person of normal intelligence has persistent and significant problems with reading, writing, spelling and sometimes mathematics and musical notation. In the past, dyslexia wasn't a recognised condition. Sadly, some children affected were labelled as lazy, stupid or lacking in concentration. Dyslexia isn't a sign of low intelligence - people of all academic abilities have been dyslexic and they may not have difficulties in any other area.
    What are the symptoms?

The British medical literature has the first description of a specific reading disability in 1896. A "bright and intelligent boy" who had great difficulty learning to read. This intrigued the educators and subsequently more similar cases were recorded and dyslexic disorders were officially recognized as a learning disorder. • What is dyslexia? When a person has difficulties with reading, writing, spelling and maybe even speaking, no matter how hard he or she tries, the problem could be a learning disability known as dyslexia. Dyslexia is a life-long language processing disorder that hinders the development of oral and written language skills. Children and adults with dyslexia can be highly intelligent, however they have a neurological disorder that causes the brain to process and interpret information differently. Since so much of what happens in a classroom is based on reading and writing, it’s important to identify dyslexia as early as possible and devise strategies to help a child succeed academically.
