Journals about teaching English
Arts and Humanities in Higher Education
is a major new journal launched in June 2002 to serve the community of arts and humanities educators internationally, by publishing significant opinion and research into contemporary issues of teaching and learning within the domain.
Changing English

is an established journal for English teachers at every level. The journal aims to encourage international dialogue between teachers and researchers and support teachers and schools on issues surrounding literacy and language. In particular, Changing English considers the future of English as a subject in the context of its history and the scope for development and change.
College English

is the professional journal for the college scholar-teacher. CE publishes articles about literature, rhetoric-composition, critical theory, creative writing theory and pedagogy, linguistics, literacy, reading theory, pedagogy, and professional issues related to the teaching of English. Each issue also includes opinion pieces, review essays, and letters from readers.
Pedagogy

is an innovative journal that aims to build a new discourse around teaching in English studies. Reversing the long history of marginalization of teaching and the scholarship produced around it, it offers a forum for critical reflection and spirited debate. The journal publishes articles by senior scholars as well as more junior members of the profession, featuring voices from many subdisciplines and institutions.

Current Students
... Graduate School The graduate program in drama trains scholar-artists for the academic profession, with a focus on performance history, dramatic literature, and theory. Students are encouraged to pursue their own scholarly interests under the guidance of faculty both in this department and in others on campus. Our program is small enough to allow close relationships between students and faculty, with each degree candidate receiving personal attention. The current faculty is often supplemented by inviting distinguished academics from other universities to teach seminars in their fields. Recently, Professor Virginia Scott of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst offered a course in Moliere; Professor Richard Emmerson taught a course on medieval theatre; Professor Don B. Wilmeth of Brown University gave a seminar on George Bernard Shaw; and Professor David Krasner of Yale University one on African-American theatre. The department usually accepts two or three candidates for the Master of Arts degree and three or four candidates for the Doctor of Philosophy degree each year. Departmental fellowships and assistantships are distributed on the basis of financial need

Janette Dillon BA(Oxon) DPhil (Oxon) Professor of Drama Personal Profile: I began lecturing at the University of Reading (1977-9) and St John's College, Oxford (1979-80); moved to part-time work in the Open University and the University of Nottingham Department of Adult Education while bringing up a family; and returned to full-time employment at the University of Nottingham in 1989. My current teaching and research interests concentrate mainly on early modern drama, but I have taught and researched across a range of earlier, later and non-dramatic literature. Teaching Interests: Undergraduate teaching: I share the teaching of the core modules in drama for Years 1 and 2: Introduction to Drama and Analysing Performance I also teach two specialist modules: Renaissance Theatre : This module selects a range of early modern dramatists, including Shakespeare, for study. The selection of texts is based on sampling across genre, across historical range and across a range of different writers, companies and theatres, and the module seeks to encourage the students to look at historical development within the period Shakespeare and Jonson : Co-taught with Professor Brean Hammond, this module aims, through the comparison of paired selected texts, to analyse both the distinctiveness of and the parallels between these two early modern dramatists.
