Welcome to the Discovering Cultural Diversity in America web course. SUNNYSIDE SCHOOL DISTRICT Purpose: Students will investigate contributions of diverse cultures to American culture through reading writing , and research resulting in a presentation with visuals Diversity in the United States can be a great benefit to our people. However, with diversity also comes misunderstanding, impatience, quick judgment, and prejudice. No matter where you go in the United States, there is diversity among the people. Not only is there diversity of race and culture , but there is also diversity in religion , political view, age, financial class and more. Because of the diversity of the American people, study of the similarities and differences among our people will allow for acceptance of each other. It is hoped that with this understanding people will be able to not only accept the differences among us, but help us to succeed in each of our areas of strength and support each other in our areas of weakness. Our nation has been built on diversity and a study of the contributions made by various races and cultures can help us to not only accept, but also appreciate each other.
