Directory Services Project Core Team Meeting Minutes April 24, 2000 Present John Bevilacqua, Mike Carter, Kent Cearley, Burton Fox, Dave Goldhammer, Rani Machoi, Paula Vaughan, David Wood Absent Dave Bodnar, Barbara Todd User Survey The core team members’ responses (comments and answers) to the survey were distributed. (See attached) A revised survey was distributed. Revisions were based upon the responses to the original format. (See attached) The revised survey will be used during the meetings with the “Big Team” representatives. “Big Team” Paula proposed that individual meetings be held with “big team” representatives to describe the project and go through the survey questions. If the Big Team representative has an area of expertise critical to the project, the meeting will also explore that area. A critical goal of these meetings will be to get the representative’s individual perspective on directory-related problems and issues. The Core Team discussed what definition of “directory” should be used during the meeting, recognizing that Big Team representatives have widely varying understandings of directory services. We will need to explain to the Big Team representative what we are looking for in the interview (beyond the definition of directory).

Frequently asked questions
  • When I try and compile analog, it gives me an error.
  • Analog just runs for a moment and then quits.
  • Analog didn't write the logfile when I ran it.
See the section entitled Starting to use analog
  • Is analog Year 2000 compatible?
  • My stats have stopped updating.
  • My stats have reset to zero.
If your ISP runs analog for you, you'll have to ask them.
  • How do I find out the number of hits from your data?
I don't use the word hits , because people use it in different ways, so it's misleading. I use requests for the number of transfers of any type of file (text, graphics, ...), and page requests for the number of transfers of HTML pages. See the section on Analog's definitions for more information.
  • Why doesn't the Daily Report only show the last six weeks?
This is controlled by the FULLDAYROWS command.
  • How do I get information on just my pages, not everybody's?
  • How do I ignore accesses from my site?
Use the FILEINCLUDE command or HOSTEXCLUDE command respectively.
