Dinosaurs Like You've Never Seen Before! Fighting Dinosaurs: New Discoveries from Mongolia features more than 30 of the best preserved and scientifically important dinosaur and other ancient animal fossils ever discovered in Mongolia's famed Gobi Desert. On view through October 29, 2000 Velociraptor that was apparently buried alive while attacking a plant-eating, shield-headed Protoceratops Also featured are many new specimens from Mongolia, including a number of species yet to be named, some of the most complete meat-eating theropod dinosaurs ever found, several nesting dinosaurs, and some of the finest lizard and mammal fossils ever discovered. These specimens have enhanced our understanding of life in the Gobi region 80 million years ago, and they shed new light on the rise of modern bird and mammal groups. This exhibition showcases discoveries and research by Museum and Mongolian Academy of Sciences paleontologists over the last 10 years, and reflects the most current thinking on dinosaur traits, behavior, and evolutionary links to birds. Discoveries in China from just two years ago reveal that a number of dinosaur species had feathers; among the highlights of the exhibition are fully feathered models of Velociraptor (shown above) and a nesting Oviraptor protecting its eggs.

    • Grade level: Elementary School, Middle School
    • Subject Area: Science
Unit Description Students will visit several on-line museums with dinosaur exhibits. While at the sites students will gather information about dinosaurs' habitats and survival needs and ways in which dinosaurs met these needs. This information will serve as the basis for a discussion of adaptation. In this discussion a comparison will be made between adaptation of species including humans.
    Objectives Students will:
    • Learn about the evolutionary concept of adaptation.
    • Understand the ways in which adaptation applies to humans.
    • Learn about dinosaurs and their habitats.

    Materials and Resources
  • Special hardware requirements: None.
  • Special software requirements: None.
  • Internet access: A medium-speed (28,000 BPS via modem) or high-speed (greater than 1 MBPS via network).
    Unit Lesson Plans
  • Lesson One: Visiting Museums . Students will visit museums and gather information about dinosaur habitats, survival needs, and how they met these needs.

    Dinosaurs and the Bible
Actually, dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible, and we will prove it by doing the following three things:
Explaining the accuracy of the Bible.
Exploring what we are taught in school and through the media.
The Bible refers to many the common animals we know today. The list includes lions, wolves, bears, sheep, cattle and dogs along with various kinds of birds, rodents, reptiles, and insects. What is interesting is that this extensive list includes three animals that we no longer recognize. These three are (in the original Hebrew language) tanniyn b@hemowth livyathan after Name and date first written in the Bible Scientific Name (best estimate) and date the name appeared tanniyn (dragon) before 1400 BC dinosaur 1841 AD behemoth before 1400 BC brachiosaurus 1903 AD Leviathan before 1400 BC kronosaurus 1901 AD re discovered them. Of course, the Bible, written between approximately 1450 BC and 95 AD, does not include any of these names. Behemoth has the following attributes according to Job 40:15-24
  • This phrase in the original Hebrew implied that behemoth was the biggest animal created.

The Age of the Dinosaurs Here is a part of the " Staircase of Time " showing when the dinosaurs lived. Dinosaurs appeared on Earth nearly 250 Million years ago, early in a period of time geologists called Triassic . They grew in numbers and types during the Jurassic time period, and dominated Earth during the Cretaceous time period. Their feet shook the ground for nearly 200 million years - 40,000 times as long as recorded human history! But then suddenly they all mysteriously disappeared at the end of the Cretaceous Period about 65 million years ago. Why? Look in some of the other rooms and see! Next

    92. Natural Causes Of The Death Of The Dinosaurs
The cause of the death of the dinosaurs is not a catastrophic impact (Alvarez) but the natural rupture of the probabilistic food chain of calcium
    http://www.ifrance.com/deathofdinosaurs
Natural causes of the death of the dinosaurs In case of problem, go on the site http://site.voila.fr/dinosaursextinction French version The causes of the disappearance of the dinosaurs caused many theories. The causes of the end of the dinosaurs lie within the scope of the mass extinctions at the KT limit (Cretaceous/Tertiary). The theory of Alvarez of the crater of impact of Chicxulub is most known, among innumerable theories of the causes of the mass extinction of the dinosaurs. The various models of causes of the extinction of the dinosaurs at the border of the Cretaceous, more or less speculative, are, for the majority, catastrophic theories. The probabilistic model of the biological evolution which is opposed to all these catastrophic models, rests on the natural probabilistic influence of biochemistry of calcium on the appearance, the evolution and the selective death of the dinosaurs (and of an enormous number of living organisms). Many qualitative and quantitative proofs confirming the probabilistic model are provided Next I Introduction Table of contents Email: samtchans@club-internet.fr

Utah in the Age of Dinosaurs
Dinosaurs lived only during the Mesozoic Era, which is often called the "Age of Dinosaurs". Utah has perhaps the best Mesozoic rock record in the world. The Mesozoic Era (225 to 65 million years ago) is divided into three time periods: the Triassic (225-193 million years ago); the Jurassic (193-136 million years ago); and the Cretaceous (136-65 million years ago).
    Triassic Period
The first dinosaurs lived near the end of theTriassic. Eoraptor , a bipedal carnivore recently discovered in South America, is the earliest known dinosaur. Triassic dinosaurs have not yet been found in Utah. Late Triassic rocks known as the Chinle Formation are exposed throughout southern and eastern Utah. This rock unit has yielded abundant remains of the carnivorous (meat eating) dinosaur Coelophysis in Arizona and New Mexico. However fossil skeletons of other animals are known from Utah and it is only a matter of time before Utah's first Triassic dinosaur is discovered.

    Dinosaurs in New Mexico
Above: A cast of the Cretaceous horned dinosaur Pentaceratops
Dinosaurs lived in New Mexico between 225 and 66 million years ago. These 159 million years encompass the Late Triassic and the entire Jurassic and Cretaceous periods of geologic history. New Mexico is unique in that it preserves both body fossils and trace fossils of Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous dinosaurs. Body fossils are actual pieces of an animal, such as fossil bones and teeth. Trace fossils are "fossilized behavior" and can include footprints, skin impressions, coprolites, and egg shells. The fossil record of New Mexico covers nearly the entire timespan of the dinosaurs, from their first appearance during the Late Triassic until their extinction at the end of the Cretaceous. Dinosaurs became extinct 66 million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous Period. The Late Cretaceous dinosaurs from the San Juan Basin were some of the last to have lived on Earth. They are world famous because of the information they provide scientists about the cause of dinosaur extinction.

    Dinosaurs of Ancient Queensland
Dinosaurs were animals, closely related to crocodiles and birds, that lived in the Mesozoic era between 220 and 65 million years ago. All dinosaurs had four legs, lived on land and breathed air. During the time that Queensland dinosaurs roamed the land, swimming reptiles such as plesiosaurs, pliosaurs and ichthyosaurs dominated the seas. Their remains were preserved in rocks in central and western Queensland - site of a vast inland sea 100 million years ago.
