Government
Denmark is a constitutional monarchy with an almost unbroken link of monarchs for more than 1,000 years (except for an interregnum of eight years from to ). The current monarch, Queen Margaret II , has largely ceremonial functions; perhaps her most significant formal power lies in her right to appoint the prime minister (Statsminister) and the cabinet of Denmark , who are responsible for administration of the government. However, she must consult with parliamentary leaders to determine the public's will, since the cabinet may be dismissed by a vote of no confidence in the Folketing the Danish parliament. Cabinet members are occasionally recruited from outside the Folketing. Between and , the Folketing was a house of a bicameral Rigsdag , the other house being the Landsting , which was indirectly elected. However, the 1953 Constitution established a unicameral Folketing of not more than 179 members, of whom two are elected from the

Denmark (02/05) Although government expenditures for culture totaled about 1.0% of the budget in 1996, in 2002 government expenditures for culture totaled 0.3% of gross domestic product (GDP). Viewed against the new government's firm objective to limit public expenditures, contributions are unlikely to increase in the future. Municipal and county governments assume a relatively large share of the costs for cultural activities in their respective districts. Most support goes to libraries and archives, theater, museums, arts and crafts training, and films. ... [ Read More V. Traffickers who forced women into prostitution continued to fraudulently recruit victims for work as dancers in cabarets and nightclubs on short-term "artiste" visas, for work in pubs and bars on employment visas, or for illegal work on tourist or student visas. There was increasing evidence of Chinese women being trafficked for sexual exploitation in Cyprus. The Government of Cyprus does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking; however, it is making significant efforts to do so. Cyprus made some progress in its anti-trafficking efforts over the past year. The new police anti-trafficking unit produced successful results and showed vigilance in combating the problem. Dimensions of the flag
National flag: The proportions of the cross should be horizontally from hoist to the tail 12/4/21, and vertically 12/4/12. State flag: The proportions of the flag with a swallow-tail are 24 : 8 : 30 : 45 horizontally and 24 : 4 : 24 vertically.
Mark Sensen and James Dignan , 25 September 1995, Victor Lomantsov , 16 December 2000, Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg , 6 January 2001 The proportions of the Dannebrog are so because Danish flag law prescribes the relative widths of each block of color, including the fimbriations, and when you add all the pieces together you get those numbers.
John Ayer 5 February 1998 The dimensions of the square is usually given as one fifth by one quarter of the height of the flag pole. However, the official decree on the flags of trade ships from 1748 is that the white cross be 1/7 of the height of the flag, the rear fields be square, and the two other fields be 6/4 of the length of the rear fields. There was a tendency to make the flag longer, and in 1893 the Ministry of the Interior stated that due to usage, no objections could be made as long as the front fields where less than 7/4 of the rear ones.
Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg , 20 June 2001 The proportions of the flag were 28:34 from 1748 - 1893. The modern flag has proportions of 28:37.

Local government is an important part of democracy in Denmark. The local authorities are responsible for the majority of public services, including tasks of great importance to the everyday life of citizens such as childcare, primary and lower secondary school, social services, and care for the elderly. The Danish local government is going through a time of fermentation. The economy is tight and the small year groups make the recruiting of qualified manpower a central challenge. The spread of new information technologies generates high expectations of a more flexible service which allows the citizens to get in contact with their local authorities day and night – and no matter where. Due to these challenges an increasing number of local authorities enter into closer co-operation with each other. This has given rise to a debate on the future organisation of the public sector.
