The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched a new initiative called The goal of this national initiative is to improve air quality in communities and protect the health of school children and the general public. EPA believes this goal can best be achieved through a partnership of government, community, business, educational, health and environmental leaders. The partners will work to encourage activities that will help to reduce emissions. These include the adoption of policies and practices to eliminate unnecessary public school bus idling, upgrading ("retrofitting") buses that will remain in the fleet with better emission control technologies and/or fueling them with cleaner fuels, and replacing the oldest buses with new, less polluting buses. This page provides information on scholarship opportunities and internet sites that may be helpful. Students should avoid search services and financial aid consultants that charge a fee for their services. These services can be expensive and do not guarantee results. While the Office of Student Affairs makes every attempt to provide current and complete financial resource information, this list is by no means comprehensive. Programs, deadlines, and eligibility requirements are constantly changing. Student Affairs can not assume responsibility for the information provided. The following is a list of financial aid resources available to dental students, including eligibility requirements and important deadline information as of November 2005.

Remarks by Senior Vice President and General Counsel Stacey J. Mobley At the National Bar Association
New Orleans - Thusday, March 1, 2001 Thanks, Demetrius [Carney]. I am very honored that the National Bar Association asked me to join you at this gathering today. As a person who has, perhaps, a unique perspective - as an African American serving as General Counsel for the nation's largest chemical company - I have developed very strong views during my working lifetime on the need to expand the pool of minority lawyers. While my comments today will focus largely on African Americans, I'm going to propose five remedies that are equally applicable to improving the numbers of Hispanics, Asian Americans, white women, or any other under-represented group within the legal community. [ A TRANSFORMING WORLD ] Each of you in this room knows that the face of our nation has been changing rapidly - and minorities are the fastest-growing segments of the U.S. population. This increased diversity has transformed not only who we are, but those with whom we do business, both nationally and globally. The concept of "diversity", itself, is far broader now than race or gender; it also encompasses age, ethnicity, physical condition, sexual orientation, and both cultural and national origin. Things aren't just black and white anymore; as Tiger Woods has taught us all, "multi-racial" is a perfectly appropriate descriptor.

The document proposes policy reform as one tool for affecting the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and funding practices and processes at the state and local school district levels. However, state level standards and control must be carefully developed and applied, so that creativity, public participation, and local priorities can drive the facility planning and design outcomes. Testimony of Mr. George Krupanski
Committee on Education and the Workforce
Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Youth and Families
March 9, 1999 Problem: Far too many children, especially those from disadvantaged communities, are falling behind in the classroom. They are labeled early on, and cannot break out of the failure mode. As a direct result, juvenile crime rates explode during non-school hours and are being committed by these same young people. All too often, the victims of these crimes are other school-age youngsters who are susceptible because they lack a safe place to go during these non-school hours. These same children who are unable to meet with success in a school system, are the same individuals the schools are seeking to reach with their newly established 21 st Century after school programs. Too often the personnel who fail to reach these young people during the school day are being asked to lead the after school initiatives as well. After a long day devoted to teaching it is often unrealistic to expect a teacher to be effective in spending another four to six hours each day of the week with the same students at the same location, even when the activities are different. In too many cases, the young people failing to adjust in school will continue their failure to adjust in school-operated after school programs. Solution: In general, what you can do to address these needs is to support initiatives that utilize schools more effectively for after school programs. Open schools for use by agencies with proven track records in helping young people succeed.

"The Little Town Too Big For One State", Delmar's 962 residents live in a unique community that calls two states, Delaware and Maryland, home. Straddling the Mason-Dixon line, the town was founded in 1859 soon after the Baltimore, Chesapeake and Atlantic Railway Co. reached the area and incorporated in 1899. Fires devastated the town in 1892 and 1901, but residents rebuilt and the town continued to grow. The town became known as the "Strawberry Capital of the Nation" in the early 1900s due to the volume of strawberries grown and shipped by local farmers. Today, Delmar offers six public parks, a public library, daycare centers, convenient shopping on U.S. 13, local sports and recreation programs, churches, and numerous civic organizations. The Delmarva Convention Center on U.S. 13 hosts concerts, antiques and craft shows, and many other events including entertainment. Delmar is also home to the U.S. 13 International Speedway, a drag and stock car racing track. Delmar Links
