The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche A new spiritual classic from one of the foremost interpreters of Tibetan Buddhism to the west. An acclaimed spiritual masterpiece, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying is a manual for life and death and a magnificent source of sacred inspiration from the heart of the Tibetan tradition. Sogyal Rinpoche delivers a lucid and inspiring introduction to the practice of meditation, to the nature of mind, to karma and rebirth, to compassionate love and care for the dying, and to the trials and rewards of the spiritual path. This jewel of Tibetan wisdom is the definitive new spiritual classic for our times. In 1927, Walter Evans-Wentz published his translation of an obscure Tibetan Nyingma text and called it the

Death and Dying
"It is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
Philipians 1:20-21 "Life and death! They seem like complete opposites—at great enmity with each other. But for Paul—and for all who share his faith—there is a unity, because the same great passion is fulfilled in both—namely, that Christ be magnified in this body—our bodies—whether by life or by death."

On death and dying: reconciling yourself to hard drive failure
1 - Introduction 2 - Bargaining By Benjamin Lauderdale Monday, February 14, 2005
Introduction
With apologies to Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross The failure of a hard drive is a nasty business, especially if you don't have a verbatim copy of your drive backed up elsewhere. Even if your critical data is backed up elsewhere, it is still a pain to set up a system again. I recently went through a drive failure that was gradual rather than sudden, and still barely escaped without losing some of my most critical files. I am currently studying outside of the US, so I only had partial backups and when things started going south I had what I gradually realized was a race against the clock to save as much as I could. Of course, I made a few mistakes along the way... A bit of background will help. I have a 13-month-old (12-month warranty), 1Ghz 12" Powerbook with 768Mb memory and a stock 4200rpm, 80GB drive that I got built-to-order. The first six months of use were my senior year of college, a lot of time in use, but not very hard drive intensive. The last seven months I have been doing data analysis and running my computer about 12 hours a day, and even with a decent chunk of memory, the drive has been taking a beating. Because I am abroad, I only have a 20GB portable drive, an original 5GB iPod and CD-RWs for backups. Thus was the situation on January 31, 2005 when I woke up.
Denial
Monday morning, I had just finished two major projects at the end of the previous week and was starting two new ones in earnest. I booted up, checked my e-mail, replied to a couple e-mails from my boss. I then logged into World of Warcraft to see if I had won an auction for a two-handed sword (I hadn't), placed a new bid for another item, and quit. I then went to make some tea and some breakfast. I brought the food back to my desk and my computer was sitting there, partially quit. The mouse moves, but I can't force quit anything, which is pretty rare in my experience under Panther. So I hit restart.

The Death & Dying Collection spans the worlds cultures and consists of about 4,000 photographs (1840-1996). In 1997, award winning Producer-Director, J.R. Olivero, in association with Dr. Stanley B. "Death In America", is now available from the Burns Archive or the Death In America website "Death In America" is an overview of cultural and philosophical evolution on the subject of illness and death in the last four centuries of American History. It investigates changes in popular attitudes, medical and technological advances, legislative issues, religious teachings and cultural taboos. "Death In America" also looks at the unusual, darker and occasionally humorous side of these issues. As examples, physicians keeping grave robbers on retainer for over 250 years, the Bayer company inventing Heroin, baby bottles killing thousands of children each year and the editor of the

Overview of Sandra Martin Productions: Sandra Martin Productions is a video production company in Omaha, Nebraska. Since our founding in 1996, we have produced a number of videotapes designed to raise viewers' awareness on a variety of sensitive topics. A small and highly focused company, we are unique in many ways. First unlike many other production houseswe do not accept outside commissions; our production choices are based solely on our own personal and heartfelt criteria. Secondly, we are personally involved in all aspects of a creative project, from developing the concept, researching, writing the script, and handling the on-camera interviewing, to directing, producing and marketing the finished production. And lastly, given the fact that we are creative people and not necessarily experts on the many complex issues we deal with, we work closely with those who are, affiliating early-on in a project with that project's appropriate professional organization. Overview of The View from the Inside Collection: The video collection titled View from the Inside makes up the heart of Sandra Martin Productions. Producing this collection was a dream of Sandra's for many years, and was, in fact, the propelling force behind the company's beginnings.

Topics Expand Your Mind Gamma Ray All Sky Map Picture Credit: NASA, Compton Gamma Ray Observatory Explanation: What if you could "see" gamma rays? This computer processed image represents a map of the entire sky at photon energies above 100 million electron Volts. These gamma-ray photons are more than 40 million times more energetic than visible light photons and are blocked from the Earth's surface by the atmosphere. In the early 1990s NASA's Compton Gamma Ray Observatory, in orbit around the Earth, scanned the entire sky to produce this picture. A diffuse gamma-ray glow from the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy is clearly seen across the middle. The nature and even distance to some of the fainter sources remain unknown. The Eye of God The image depicts the so-called Helix Nebula, described by astronomers as "a trillion-mile-long tunnel of glowing gases." At its center is dying, Sun-like star which has ejected masses of dust and gas to form tentacle-like filaments stretching toward an outer rim composed of the same material. The Sun itself may look like this in several billion years.

Namaste
You have entered a dimension beyond ordinary consciousness. A realm that has been on the other side of your awareness for eons... until this moment. Perhaps you found your way here because of a keyword you typed in a search engine or a friend suggested you visit or you came upon it accidentally while surfing the net unconsciously, but now you have been awakened and this is just the beginning of your journey. Your first adventure is to search through these pages seeking for greater understanding, inner truth, divine guidance, wisdom... higher consciousness. Reading the information you find on this site, following the recommended links and reading recommended books that pique your interest will lead you on your own unique spiritual path. The aha! moments you will have along the way are signals of your own awakening mind and the acceleration of the evolution of your own higher consciousness on the path of Light. The information you will find here is food for thought, grist for the mill or, in some cases, mind boggling... meant to make you question everything you've ever believed, take it apart and reexamine it, and come away with either a new set of beliefs that sustain you through your life or a reaffirmation of your own deeply held belief system. This is the path of knowledge where all beliefs, thoughts, ideas, concepts, religions, theologies are considered along with scientific theories, secular humanist ideas and studies into the paranormal. It's the only way to get the whole picture.
