Group Germanic (with German, English, Dutch etc.), North Germanic (with Swedish, Icelandic etc.) Geography Territory of modern Denmark, also spoken in the Skone region in southern Sweden and in Greenland. Formerly Danish was spread on the British Isles, and in Norway. History The Old Danish period lasted since the 9th to the 16th century. The first inscriptions in it were found on the Jutland peninsula. In the MiddleAges Danish was a language of Vikings who invaded Britain, Ireland, Northern Europe and colonized Scandinavia. After Denmark lost its colonies, the sphere of usage was limited to the territory of the kingdom. Phonetics The most significant feature is the Danish "push", similar to the German 'Knacklaut', a sharp laryngeal linking which happens after a vowel. This linking is very important not only phonetically but also morphologically. Another specific trait is the absence of long consonants which is not known in any other Scandinavian language. Danish has 20 vowels and 11 diphthongs, which can be both long and short. b, d, g

Learn to speak Conversational Danish Language
Why Language Learning is Difficult

Studies show that in most languages, native-speakers tend to use less than 3,000 unique words on a daily basis. Then why is learning a seond language such an overwhelming task?
First, the written target language may use new characters if not an entirely new character set. Characters are put together to form new, unique and often unfamiliar sounds, even new pitches and inflections. For each word currently utilized in your native language, you must memorize the equivalent word in your target language.
Then you must learn rules for putting words together to form complete sentences of meaning, sentence structure. Then grammar with it's inherent rules and exceptions. Lastly, there's comprehension, listening and understanding at normal conversation speed.
It's no wonder so many people fail to learn a second language. Broken down to it's components, the challenge is overwhelming if not insurmountable. The Problem with False Claims
Many language websites, books, and software providers claim they can teach you to be fluent in a matter of days? Even offering

The Danish language
Learning Danish is a challenge
Danish is a Nordic language and is very close to Swedish, Norwegian and Icelandic. It belongs to the Germanic family and has many similarities with German, English and Dutch.
In recent years, Danish has been assimilating a large amount of English words. This means that English speakers in Denmark will recognise words in newspaper articles or the spoken language, such as computer, cyberspace and technology. Many Latin and Greek words will also be recognised in Danish texts, such as "relevans", "hospital" or "demokrati". Danish grammar is relatively simple and is in many ways similar to English.
Difficult pronunciation
Pronunciation is usually the biggest hurdle for foreigners. This is especially due to three factors: the many vowels, the Danish glottal stop and the great difference between spelling and pronunciation.
Foreigners learning Danish are often frustrated by the great difference between spelling and pronunciation. Many foreigners ask: "Why do the Danes speak so unintelligibly?" The answer is that there is a great difference between spelling and pronunciation. Many words are not pronounced as they are written, and many endings are not pronounced in ordinary spoken language.
