We describe changes in the flow of immigrants to Denmark and the derived changes in the composition of the stock of immigrants and descendants on national origin. Next, the paper describes Danish immigration policy from the guest worker stop in the 1970s and until the recent situation. The shift in the composition of immigrants has contributed to a problematic situation regarding labour market integration, characterized by low participation and high unemployment among non-OECD immigrants. We emphasize problems on the demand side of the labour market, i.e. a high minimum wage and discrimination to some extent, and on the supply side due to weak or counterproductive financial incentives Keywords: Labour market integration Immigrants Refugees Denmark (search for similar items in EconPapers)

    Introduction
The composition and assignments of the Think Tank In November 2000 the Minister of the Interior appointed a Think Tank on integration in Denmark, to clarify the integration of foreigners in the Danish society and analyse the future development in the number of foreigners as well as address the social consequences of this development. The Think Tank had the following composition, when this report was prepared:
    • Director Erik Bonnerup (Chairman) Member of the Danish Parliament Naser Khader Director Bjarne Pedersen Professor Poul Chr. Matthiessen Social director Jane Torpegaard
The aim and composition of the report The aim of this report is to clarify to which extent foreigners are integrated in the Danish society. The report is initiated with an annotated summary, where seven criteria for a successful integration of foreigners are drawn up. Based on these criteria the following chapters contain analyses of whether the Danish society has reached the separate goals that constitute a successful integration. The analyses are based on statistical data from Statistics Denmark as well as existing studies on the integration of foreigners. In areas where the necessary knowledge is lacking, we will point out the need for additional research. The Think Tank would like to take this occasion to thank the following people for valuable comments on our original report proposal: Head of Research Hans Hummelgaard (Institute of Local Government Studies in Denmark), Chairwoman Azam Javadi (The council on Ethnic Minorities), General Secretary Andreas Kamm (Danish Refugee Council), Professor Peter Nannestad (University of Aarhus) and Professor Lise Togeby (University of Aarhus).

He studied composition at the Jutland Academy of Music with Karl Aage Rasmussen , and Hans Abrahamsen , and music theory with Orla Vinther. Oram as an extreme example. From Poltergeist (1989) a more natural and spontaneous compositional style breaks out. In the more recent pieces he has been working with more fundamental musical phenomenons like tonality and pulse and he is still inspired by the post-Pythagorean idea of a musical continuum between the musical parameters. He is also working on a 43-minute orchestral work, which has as a compositional goal a synthesis between the usually polarised notions of tonality and atonality, or technically expressed between dodecaphonic and spectral composition. His music is published by Edition Wilhelm Hansen. Additional information at schirmer.com:
