This work is perhaps the most frequently played Danish composition around the world. Gade’s manuscript was acquired by the Royal Library in 1993 with support from the Augustinus Fund. From 1921 to 1927 the composer and conductor Jacob Gade (1879-1963) was employed in the fashionable cinema Paladsteatret as conductor of a large orchestra. During these years a number of silent movies were shown which the orchestra accompanied with suspense music, a part of which Gade himself had composed. Thus Jalousie. Tango Tsigane was written for the Copenhagen premiere of the silent movie Don Q starring Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Astor in September 1925, and was published that same year. 31 x 23.7 cm. The parish registers provide plenty of testimony that the name is a tricky and a volatile one. It of course has something to do with a churchyard [Danish: kirkegaard not cohabit. In the event of the death of the husband, the widow would inherit the household goods and two hundred rixdollars a year and would also receive an inheritance of two thousand rixdollars to be set aside for any possible children. The document stated further: "Should the unexpected event transpire that the temperaments of the couple show themselves to be incompatible, and it may be granted us to live separately, my future wife will receive her wearing apparel and her linens; in addition to this I will give her a one-time payment of three hundred rixdollars for the purchase of necessary household goods as well as an annual payment of one hundred rixdollars as long as she lives." It was further emphasized that should such an occasion arise, the children would reside with their father after attaining the age of three. Attorney Hyllested refused to endorse the marriage contract. Not only were the husband's economic circumstances so glaringly superior to the terms offered to the wife and children, but it was unusual for a marriage contract to contain so many detailed provisions concerning divorce

OSSIAN. PUBLISHED EVIDENCE.
If anything could be ascertained relative to the authenticity of the poems, it was to be done by going direct to the oldest surviving inhabitants of the districts where they were said to be found. That was done, and collections were printed and written, of which very little is known. I have gone over the same ground myself once more with able assistants, and I have gone through great part of the work of my predecessors, and I will endeavour to give the result as briefly as I can. It has been proved that there were old Gaelic traditional poems, collectors of them, and men who made English paraphrases from them under the name of translations, long before MacPherson's time; and be, according to the evidence in the report of 1805, spoke with men who had written collections. The affidavit of Archibald Fletcher, January 1801, No. xvi. of the Appendix, gives a list of poems collected by Fletcher himself, filling 194 pages, and deposited with the Society; and he names men with whom MacPherson spoke, and who knew such poems. No. xv. of the same Appendix gives 70 pages of

This group of Britains Elephant Rides and Camels with boy riders date from 1930.
The image shows the pre-war Elephant version with the famous "rubber trunk" - Throughout time the rubber became hard and was easily damaged - and nowadays they are hard to find in good condition. The Camels with boy riders are also pre-war examples and are becoming increasingly difficult to find as the hobby becomes more popular.

Britains Boxed Elephant Ride Adult giraffes
are the rarest of the Britains Zoo collection. To find a boxed one is almost impossible - Many people mistakingly believe the young giraffe to be the adult one - Even books get it wrong - (notably Richard O'Briens "Collecting Foreign made Toy Soldiers" - where the same picture appears for the adult and the young).

Food Composition in Denmark
The Danish Food Composition Databank is on the Web - Now revision 6.0
A very long tradition in the publishing of food composition values is continued by the Danish Institute for Food and Veterinary Research with the current change from the printed media to the Internet. During the last 25 years it has been a public responsibility to compile and evaluate the thousands of data developed both by the laboratories of the Danish Institute for Food and Veterinary Research and other research and industry laboratories.
The new revision 6.0
This current revision of the Danish Food Composition Databank has been updated on several issues. The Databank follows the new Nordic Nutrient Recommendations, which have changed on several points, such as energy calculations and derivation of vitamin A and vitamin E activity. Furthermore, new data concerning bread, pork and charcuterie products, fruits and vegetables have been added. The specific changes can be found in the

Danish is spoken by the 5 million inhabitants of Denmark, and is also the official language of Greenland and the Faroe Islands, which are considered part of Denmark. It is one of the Scandinavian languages, which constitute a branch of the Germanic languages, in turn a part of the Indo-European family. Danish is most closely related to Norwegian and Swedish.
During the centuries that Denmark and Norway were one country, a dialect closer to Danish than Norwegian was spoken in the Norwegian cities. This is still in use today and is sometimes referred to as "Dano-Norwegian." The Danish alphabet is the same as the Norwegian, consisting of the twenty-six letters of the English alphabet plus æ, ø, and å at the end. Before 1948 the å was written aa. The spelling reform of that year also abolished the German practice of beginning all nouns with a capital letter. Danish Courses
