The word Sanlaap is Hindi for 'dialogue' and its project Sanved, uses dance as a platform for artists and activists to protest against the issues of women and child exploitation and the stigma of AIDS. Dance-Movement Therapy
Dance Movement Therapy is a means of expression within a psychotherapeutic relationship, founded on the principle that movement reflects an individual's patterns of thinking and feeling- the person is enabled creatively in a process of personal integration and growth. In acknowledging and supporting the movement of clients, therapy encourages development of new, adaptive movement patterns, together with the emotional experiences that accompany such changes. Through the movement and dance, each person's emotional world becomes more tangible; individuals share some of their personal symbolism and relationships are made visible. Dance Movement Therapy creates a holding environment, in which feelings can be expressed, acknowledged and communicated safely. It is practised as both individual and group therapy. While the origins of dance as healing art lie in ancient history, the contemporary profession relies also upon 20th Century psychological theories and therapeutic practices developed primarily in Europe and the U.S.A. The profession is informed by continuing international research.

    Dance/Movement Therapy
Dance/Movement therapy is the psychotherapeutic use of movement as a process, which furthers the physical and psychic integration of the individual. The body / mind integration is expressive and is a useful medium when words fail to convey the depth of emotion, or when an individual is unable or unwilling to speak. A shared experience within a group or between the therapist and client can prevent withdrawal and isolation. The process is developmental and fosters growth and extension of self. It also supports current abilities and strength. Dance therapy strengthens and increases movement repertoire, promotes healthy movement patterns, reduces tension, and provided healthier ways of perceiving the self and environment. It is effective with individuals and groups, verbal and non-verbal, across a variety of diagnoses. Additional group classes avilable upon request. Offered as a group, private or semi-private activity. Ballet
