Each season Caltech Public Events presents performing arts events ranging from theater and music to dance and comedy in various venues on campus; many of these events feature world-renowned artists. Tickets are required. This unique performing arts series with a focus on science for children is geared for the enjoyment of the entire family. Activities, games, music and contests with Radio Disney will take place one hour prior to each performance. All events are general admission. Tickets are required. Stunning high-definition films serve as the springboard for lively discussions with Caltech scientists about the science behind the beauty and wonder of the world around us. These programs are held on various Saturday afternoons and are designed for children ages 6 and older, and their families. Tickets are required. A series of science programs featuring high definition movies, followed by discussions with Caltech scientists. Designed for school groups grades 3 to 12, these programs are held on various Friday mornings throughout the school year. To learn how your school can participate, call (626) 395-6059. Stage Door Theatre is a non-profit Scarborough community theatre group celebrating its 21st anniversary this 2000 / 2001 season.
Founded in 1980 by Pete and Josie Moore, Stage Door Theatre is a "repertory" company which currently makes its home at the Cliffcrest Community Centre. The group is made up of volunteers who dedicate their time and enthusiasm for the sheer love of theatre. Only members are cast in shows, but everyone is welcome to join! Members also perform all the production functions necessary to mount each show. Stage Door members (some of whom have been with the group for its entire 20 year history) hone their skills in carpentry, sewing, advertising and lighting while becoming skilled performers.
