  • International Marketing Abstract: The following is excerpted from the Teacher Edition Foreword of the Introduction to International Trade: "These instructional materials provide secondary and postsecondary students with an opportunity to explore the career choices in the international trade occupational areas and introduce them to the basic workplace skills necessary to compete and survive in today's global economy. "Therefore, Introduction to International Trade is designed to include the entry-level competencies students will need to enter any of the occupational areas identified for international trade. Utilizing these instructional materials, students will have an opportunity to develop a portfolio exploring the interrelationship of the occupational areas of international trade, analyzing current events within a major international trade region, issues relevant to international economics and finance, current events relevant to import/export procedures and documentation, and current events concerning international marketing efforts. "These instructional materials are designed not only for student use but to assist teachers in organizing and improving instruction. Instructional materials in this publication are based on the competency-based concept of first stating the objectives (objective sheet), developing instructional strategies for teaching to those objectives (information and assignment sheets), and assessing those same objectives (written test-a criterion-referenced evaluation instrument)."

    CURRENT EVENTS
Photogenesis Gallery is pleased to be a part of the art program currently in progress at the new and fabulously restored La Posada de Santa Fe , a hotel which is part of the Rock Resort chain. La Posada, under the capable management of Daniel Hostettler , has embarked on a program of decorating their public rooms, as well as some exclusive suites, with artwork from some of the best galleries in Santa Fe. These artworks can be purchased either directly through the hotel or from the galleries. In addition to a gallery suite, Photogenesis has furnished a small walk through gallery with works by Nicholas Trofimuk. We have been thrilled with the response, both in admiration and in sales. If you are visiting Santa Fe, we recommend that you visit La Posada to see the atmosphere they have created. Even if they were not promoting art, a visit would be worthwhile. With large trees shading its patios, it’s the perfect spot for soaking up the Santa Fe atmosphere, while basking in the New Mexican sunshine, surrounded by wonderful works of art. It is in the works for us to do a few more suites with our photography, but for now we thought you might enjoy seeing what’s there already! I am very excited to be a contributing columnist to the new photographic magazine “Photovision” Those of you who have visited the gallery know how I love to talk, so this just gives me a wider audience. Photovision is a magazine geared primarily to photographers and in my column “From the Gallery” I try to cover subjects of interest to this group. I have to confess that seeing your own words in print is an exhilarating experience. For those of you who have not seen “Photovision” it is distributed both nationally and internationally. You can subscribe by writing to Photovision Magazine, PO Box 845, Crestone, CO 81131 or going to

A signature collection of the Michael C. Carlos Museum has undergone a dramatic transformation. The new galleries of Greek and Roman art present the Museum's classical treasures in an entirely new light, with 100 recently acquired works on view for the first time, including a commanding portrait of the Roman emperor Tiberius, praised by scholars as the finest in existence. Since the Museum's patron, Michael Carlos, made an unprecedented $10 million gift to mark the new millennium, the collection has grown in size and quality at an astonishing pace. With galleries devoted to tracing Greek art from its earliest manifestations through Hellenistic times, a villa-like setting for viewing Roman masterworks, and much more, the story of classical art is told respecting both chronological developments and thematic strands that traverse time.

From Mark Felt to Karl Rove
By Howard Kurtz Washington Post Staff Writer Monday, July 18, 2005; 6:21 AM Thirty-three years after Bob Woodward first met Mark Felt in an Arlington parking garage, echoes of the Watergate era seem to be everywhere. But the comparisons for the press are not all that flattering. Liberal critics of the media, who believe journalists abysmally failed to challenge the president's WMD claims during the Iraq war buildup, feel vindicated by news that two reporters were granting Karl Rove anonymity as he tried to undermine a prominent debunker of those claims, Joe Wilson, by mentioning his wife's CIA role. Some even fault Judith Miller for her act of conscience in going to jail, saying the New York Times reporter is merely protecting Rove (though no one knows whether her source was the White House political adviser or someone else). For those who see the secretive Bush administration as a reincarnation of the Nixon regime, the disclosure that Rove served as a source for Time's Matt Cooper and columnist Robert Novak looks like the slow unraveling of a scandal that has now reached the top level of the White House. Scott McClellan is cast in the Ron Ziegler role, refusing to answer a barrage of reporters' questions about Rove after his previous answers were rendered inoperative.
