Providing unbiased news is a very difficult job, as demonstrated by mass media's almost complete failure to do so. and 3. Wikipedia attracts encyclopedia writers, whereas a dedicated news wiki would attract news writers. therefore 5. An independent news wiki should be created. 6. This news wiki could be syndicated via RSS on wikipedia. From the user's perspective, everything will be the same, but the infrastructure will be better. Thoughts? My first thought is "yes." But I have also been thinking about the differences between the news and an encyclopedia. I think Wikipedia has proven that the latter is well-suited to Wiki-ness. I'm not sure about news, though. Wiki makes for easy, easy editing and revision, and that's not something one necessarily wants in the news. A historical record of unaltered past news is important, whether that news is correct or not. It's difficult for me to see how that could be made to work in a Wiki context. I don't think it'd be impossible, just difficult.

It was developed as a module that could be added to other training courses for our compliance staff, but could also be used as a stand-alone training product that might be appropriate for staff meetings or less formal training situations. The program has now been distributed to regional and area offices of OSHA, as well as to state plan states and consultation programs. The Training Institute reports that they have already gotten positive feedback and requests for additional copies of the program. I am attaching an electronic version of the slide presentation (in PowerPoint) so you can see what was developed.
