Different definitions of culture reflect different theories for understanding - or criteria for valuing - human activity. Sir Edward B. Tylor wrote in that "culture or civilization , taken in its wide ethnographic sense, is that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society", while a document from the United Nations agency UNESCO states that culture is the "set of distinctive spiritual, material, intellectual and emotional features of society or a social group, and that it encompasses, in addition to art and literature

Culture of Quebec
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
As a North American society and the only society on the continent with a French -speaking majority, the culture of the province of Quebec Canada shows many unique features. On the whole, this culture differs from that of the 350 million English -speaking citizens of Canada and the United States who surround it, as well as from that of France For historical and linguistic reasons, Quebec also has cultural links with other North American French speaking communities, particularly with the Acadians of New Brunswick and to a lesser extent with the French Canadian communities of northern Ontario and the Cajun French revival movements in Louisiana USA History made Quebec a meeting place for cultures, where people from around the world experience America, but from a little distance and through a different eye. The culture of Quebec is connected to the strong cultural currents of the rest of Canada, United States, France , and Britain all at the same time. As such, it is often described as a crossroads between Europe and America. The

Life in the Current Middle Ages
    What is the SCA?
The SCA is the Society for Creative Anachronism, which is a group dedicated to researching and recreating the Middle Ages in the present. Many groups meet weekly, and at these meetings we dance, talk, study, learn, revel, and make plans. But first, let's get a little bit of info about the SCA in general.
Where did the SCA come from?
The avowed purpose of the SCA is the study and recreation of the European Middle Ages, its crafts, sciences, arts, traditions, literature, etc. The SCA "period" is defined to be Western civilization before 1600 AD, concentrating on the Western European High Middle Ages. Under the aegis of the SCA we study dance, calligraphy, martial arts, cooking, metalwork, stained glass, costuming, literature... well, if they did it, somebody in the SCA does it (Except die of the Plague!). As you can probably guess, the thing that separates the SCA from a Humanities 101 class is the active participation in the learning process. To learn costuming, you design and build costumes. To learn SCA infantry fighting, you make armor, weapons, shields, etc., and put them on and go learn how it feels to wear them when somebody is swinging a (rattan) sword at you. To learn brewing, you make (and sample!) your own wines, meads and beers.

Where appropriate, I cross list relevant resources. Society links are primarily concerned with perspectives and problems in modern Southeast Asian society. Culture links are largely anthropological in nature. For the arts, see the Arts, Music, Literature and Performance Page History speaks for itself. Politics links include political economy research as well as links to specific political entities such as parties, governments, etc.
