They can be recent events or breaking news stories. Current events that are considered newsworthy will usually be reported by the media through television, radio, newspapers, magazines, journals and websites, and these events are called news.
News is a plural noun used with a singular verb. It can mean a report of recent occurrences, information of something that has recently taken place. However, it is sometimes refers to something that was not previously known, especially fresh findings or recent intelligence.
News Values Current events becomes news when it becomes interesting and important, and therefore newsworthy. The impact that a news story has on people and the financial impact of the the story are very important factors. News organizations are also more likely to report news stories that happen immediately, happen at convenient reporting times and that are unexpected or surprising. They are less likely to report on news stories where an accurate account of events cannot be given.
News stories also have to be relevant and appealing to the audience. Many news organizations report stories that are negatively or positively exciting, like stories about disasters or famous people. They also pick relevant topics about places and cultures that are well-known or nearby or about people that an audience can relate to. Entertaining and unusual stories are also popular.
