30. Snow Groomers, Snow Groomer, Cross Country Grooming Equipment
Snow grooming equipment and implements for cross country skiing, snowshoe trails, and sled dog trails. USA.
http://www.snowgroomers.net/
Welcome to the website of Snow Groomers, Inc. , manufacturers of high performance snow groomers. Our innovative, ultra low-resistance snow grooming equipment has brought economical trail grooming within the reach of hundreds of snow sport enthusiasts from Alaska to Newfoundland, Maryland to California and every state and province in between. Whether you need to level and compact mountain powder or late season corn snow, our versatile groomers will do the job quicker, in a wider range of conditions, with a smaller snowmobile than any other grooming system. We built our original to follow effortlessly behind standard snowmobiles. Its small footprint and slippery plastic bottom maximizes compaction and glides easily over the snow. These easy-to-handle, heavy-duty groomers employ a couple of simple tuning adjustments to optimize performance in different snow conditions. FLOATATION is the most critical grooming objective; ask anyone who has been stuck with an overweight groomer that was doing a very good impression of a snowplow. High performance, low-resistance grooming requires proper floatation and is easily adjusted by changing inexpensive concrete blocks. These weights are at the heart of our groomers, directly over the snow, for maximum compaction and best balance.
The and SNO-MASTER 96 ™ were designed with these same easy-pull features and also employ large tracking runners, to keep you headed straight down the trail regardless of its pitch. These versatile, wide body groomers also allow you to adjust the nose of the compaction pan up for deep/fresh snow, duties normally performed by a separate "roller" implement.

Before Your Trip
E As winter snows start to melt, emerging vegetation is revealed. Please stay off these fragile areas. Spring skiing opportunities remain at Granite Park, Many Glacier, and Logan Pass, but remember, warming conditions greatly increase avalanche activity. Most ski routes are not marked. Pay attention to descriptions and local landmarks. A topographic map will help. Arduous cross park trips contain extreme avalanche and terrain hazards and should be attempted only by experienced and well equipped parties. A permit is required for backcountry camping. Practice "Leave No Trace" camping techniques described in the information provided with your permit. Skiers and snowshoers please register at the trailhead registration boxes. Climbers should complete the Voluntary Climbers Registration form, available at ranger stations and the Apgar Visitor Center. Pets are not allowed on trails, unplowed roads, in the backcountry or off leash. Snowmobiles are not permitted anywhere in Glacier National Park. Avalanches Glacier is part of the Northwest Montana Avalanche Warning System, which provides a weekly assessment of local avalanche conditions. Forecasts are updated each Friday morning during the avalanche season, and broadcast by local radio stations. Information can also be obtained by calling 257-8402 or 1-800-526-5329.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING IN THE AUSTRALIAN ALPS
The Snowy Mountains of NSW, situated in Kosciuszko National Park, provide an excellent venue for cross-country skiing in Australia. There is skiable snow from June until November/December in most years. The terrain is a mixture of treeless plains, rolling hills, deep valleys, snowgum and eucalypt forest, and the glacial lakes and steeper slopes of the Main Range near Mt Kosciuszko. There are many old mountain huts scattered throughout the mountains which provide interesting destinations to ski to, and there is a large network of groomed cross-country ski trails at a few locations, including Perisher Valley and Cabramurra. In a typical snow season I like to ski in many areas of Kosciuszko National Park , visiting huts, leading some club ski tours, going in a few citizen ski races and doing the occasional snow camp. My favourite times are when skiing through snow covered forests immediately after a blizzard, and up on the Main Range in spring when there are long, warm days, excellent spring snow and fantastic slopes and views. I have put together a list of suggestions for single day ski tours for the Snowy Mountains area.
