Small Favors: Missourians crocheting for charity
I was surfing the net the other day, and found a website that really got my attention:
[The original link was to ababysangel.org. That link ceased to work shows the page being "under construction." I think this is the same group, but I'm not 100% sure. If anyone can confirm, please, please, let me know!]
It's a Colorado group that donates handmade garments and blankets for preemies. Like a bludger between the eyes, it struck me: I'm constantly crocheting. To the point I've got mountains of afghans in my house. Why not do something for someone else? I started searching the web for similar groups active in Missouri, looking especially for my hometown, Springfield. Over half the links I found were broken lots of "404 Page Not Found" messages, etc. Below are the working links to groups, not listed in any particular order. Warm Up America This project lets people create one or more 7" by 9" piece, crocheted or knitted, which will be joined with others to make a full blanket. Springfield, Missouri's collection site is the Michael's Craft Store, 1840 E. Independence. Addresses for other Michael's stores in Missouri are located

The Living Space
The clutter of this room depicts a place
Neglected, colors hues and earth tones laid
Aside for contemplated use. Baskets
Of conventional stuff set in odd places, spinning wheels
Half full with yarn that is dangling into the fuzz.
Oak baskets made by my own hands and that
Of the master craftsman grace this room’s disarray.
Dried flowers yarn and seed a wait their destiny
Of useful purpose ~ garden ~ loom or ~ wheel. The state of clutter reflects my mind. I reach For glories neglected long ago. The tasks Once left in search of knowledge laid temptingly Before me by skilled hands far greater than mine. And peace far stiller than any I had had. A home Left in disarray far greater than my mind.
by Lynnae McConaha Chamomile Connection Lynnae's Place A rt and education have been a major focus in life. Spinning and weaving have taken precedence the past 20 years, as this is an art form I can do while raising five children. We live in a rural area in Indiana and have tried to live simply, applying grass roots philosophies in our lives. We started by living in the country, growing foods organically, eating healthily and learning more about holistic healing. We have homebirthed, homeschooled and contributed some really healthy children to this earth. I am available if you need help with your homeschooling process and I've been a teacher for Oak Meadow Schools an accredited distance learning school, the school curriculum I used with my children, for many years. It give a balance and growth to the school experience and children not seen many places.

Crocheting the Lorenz Manifold by Hinke M Osinga and Bernd Krauskopf
The Lorenz attractor is the best known image of a chaotic or strange attractor. We are concerned here with its close cousin, the two-dimensional stable manifold of the origin of the Lorenz system, which we call the Lorenz manifold for short. This surface organizes the dynamics in the three-dimensional phase space of the Lorenz system... Read about it in Mathematicians crochet chaos (click for Adobe
