Article Critique Writing Assignment By: Helena Mohit-Tabatabai May 28th, “Are Computers in the Early Childhood Classroom Developmentally, Appropriate?”
Author: Beverly M. Cetnar Ballor
The article: “Are Computers in the Early Childhood Classroom Developmentally, Appropriate?” is a persuasive piece of writing, in which the author, a teacher named Beverly M Cetnar , tries to justify the usage of computers in classrooms on the primary school level. It then goes on to describe the benefits of having computers in every classroom. It does not appear to be an article from any particular magazine, if anything it might have been on a webpage. The title describes the purpose well, but it is nothing spectacular or eye-catching. It presents the issue in one succinct sentence. What precisely is that issue? Ballor feels that computers should be used with children at a very young age. She discusses the use of computers especially for kids who do not have good motor control for drawing. It then discusses some of the varying wonderful software that is available to kids. Her main point is that it is through play that children make sense of the world, and that children get more from playing compared to formal instruction. Her tone is a very optimistic one, that as long as a teacher implements a computer the right way it can be a great equalizer. She concludes that with the advancement of technology, computers in the classroom are an inevitability that teachers should embrace

Pearson Educational Measurement Adds ETS' Automated Essay Scoring to Suite of Electronic Testing Services Iowa City, Iowa - February 24, 2003 Pearson Educational Measurement, a part of Pearson Education, scores more than 40 million student tests annually, including more than 84 million constructed-response test items. "We've analyzed automated essay scoring and are pleased to add the ETS products to our suite of scoring solutions," said Steve Kromer, General Manager of Pearson Educational Measurement. "By offering electronic scoring options for open-ended test items along with our professional scorers, our customers will be able to package a scoring system that meets their needs for turnaround speed, reliability, and cost-effectiveness." ETS's automated scoring capabilities are built upon natural language processing (NLP) technology, a sub-field of artificial intelligence. ETS developed e rater, an automated scoring system that uses natural language processing techniques to replicate the scoring performance of professional readers. C-rater evaluates the accuracy of short-answer, content-based responses in terms of scoring rules which define the requirements of a full or partially correct answer. Using natural language processing technology, c-rater determines if a student answer contains specific linguistic information required as evidence that a specified concept has been learned. Critique Writing Analysis Tools provides detailed diagnostic feedback across five dimensions of writing features.

Sometimes we're so fearful of being criticized or rejected that we keep our creativity bottled up and don't let it out. Other times we constantly adapt what we create, focusing only on the "market" and what they seem to be liking or disliking this week. Then we end up feeling like we're not truly expressing our creative impulses. ... Main Directory Submit Your Expert Article Breaking through Blocks Copywriting ... Title page : This is the first page which includes the class name and number, title of paper, author, date. A title page does not have a page number and is not counted in the total pages required. Introduction : This is the purpose or topic of the paper, and it should be considered a brief, concise paragraph or two that summarizes the content of the paper. Literature Review: This is the main section of the paper and includes information based on paragraphs. Remember paragraphs should have one main idea that is in direct support of the thesis statement. Within each body paragraph, there will be a topic sentence (main idea of the paragraph) and supporting idea.. Conclusion or Summary: This is the portion of the paper where you will offer concluding or summarizing comments. It is a brief review and basically tells the reader what the outcome of the paper means. References: Any literature used in an analysis must be accurately cited in order to avoid plagiarism. See

The more you do the more you learn about writing (by trying hard to understand and express what makes a piece effective or not effective).
In addition to critiquing each other's work, we will also discuss writing theory, try exercises, share markets, and share our publishing successes.
