New York State Sex Offender Registry and the Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA)
Welcome to the New York State Sex Offender Registry information center. The purpose of this site is to provide an overview of the sex offender registration law and how the public can obtain information about sex offenders. The Sex Offender Registration Act, New York's version of Megan's Law, was signed by Governor George E. Pataki in July 1995 and became effective on January 21, 1996. The text of the statute is contained in Correction Law Article 6-C (Section 168 et seq.).

1999 REPORT ON CYBERSTALKING: A NEW CHALLENGE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT AND INDUSTRY
Cyberstalking: A New Challenge for Law Enforcement and Industry A Report from the Attorney General to the Vice President August 1999 Introduction
The new millennium is fast approaching, and the information superhighway is undergoing rapid growth. The Internet and other telecommunications technologies are promoting advances in virtually every aspect of society and every corner of the globe: fostering commerce, improving education and health care, promoting participatory democracy in the United States and abroad, and facilitating communications among family and friends, whether across the street or around the world. Unfortunately, many of the attributes of this technology - low cost, ease of use, and anonymous nature, among others - make it an attractive medium for fraudulent scams, child sexual exploitation, and increasingly, a new concern known as "cyberstalking."
Make no mistake: this kind of harassment can be as frightening and as real as being followed and watched in your neighborhood or in your home."

For Ourselves and Posterity
A Principled Parliament and Reliable Courts
Our practical and imaginative strategy for obtaining the full benefits of democracy and law is based upon bringing prominent people and grass roots organisations together outside of party politics. Our priority must be to emphasise that which unites us.
An organisation in which everyone agrees on everything is a cult. A society in which disagreement is paramount is chaotic. At the updating of this site in January 2003, there are intense pressures in many parts of the world for a dangerous comformity. At the same time there are great tensions caused by differences.
Trusting in that which is best in humankind, we are forming a consensus for decency and fairness. In addressing the task of learning how better decisions can be made by ministers and judges, we expect to go beyond the toleration of other people and their views; we expect to value them.
In doing so, we will be backing a social contract in which each person's right to their own perception of the world is partnered by their moral obligation to make that view as informed, honest and unselfish as is humanly possible.

A Message From the Director About the Supervisory Leadership Program About Guided Discovery Learning Admission Procedures
MISSION STATEMENT Criminal Justice Command Institute
Approved November 1991 The Criminal Justice Command Institute shall deliver leadership programs that address emerging issues in the criminal justice system to prepare professionals as advocates for initiating and managing change. To: Prospective Applicants From: Dr. Craig A. Zendzian, Director Enrollment in the Criminal Justice Command Institute's Supervisory Leadership Program means a personal and professional commitment involving sacrifice and dedication. . Admission is competitive amongst applicants and selection is based upon an individual's desire to excel in leadership, managing by values and ability to "think outside of the box." Applicants and their agencies must demonstrate evidence of being aligned in principle; and they both must respect the shared time and energies that will be spent in experiencing Supervisory Leadership Program encounters. This is definitely a program that emphasizes relationship- building, and facilitating development of networks with members of other criminal justice agencies and quality circles of expertise. Building leadership and teams that officers can use to direct change is a theme found in the Program. Classes emphasize participation and preparation.

Welcome
Carl Brizzi,
Marion County Prosecutor "Criminals have a choice...
Victims don't" I ran for Marion County Prosecutor because I care about our community and I want to do everything I can to ensure safety, not just for my family but for all of us. My vision for the Marion County Prosecutor's Office continues to be based on three fundamental principles: Prosecution, Protection and Prevention. Tough, but fair, prosecution is job one. My primary responsibility as Marion County Prosecutor is to put violent criminals in jail, where they can no longer endanger our society. What good is opportunity or economic prosperity if we can't feel safe in our own homes or walking down the street at night? As Prosecutor, I target habitual violent criminals, gun-toting felons and drug dealers who threaten our freedom and destroy people's lives. It is my mission to prosecute deserving offenders aggressively and without apology
