Mmm - I guess we should think about sub-categories (perhaps starting with the classifications used in list of cricket topics ?), rather than dumping all cricket articles in [Category:Cricket]. ALoan (Talk) 17:21, 2 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. I was thinking we should start doing this, at least for a Cricketers subcategory. But the amount of work involved was too daunting for me to start! But by all means, I'm in support of it if you want to get it off the ground. :-) dmmaus 22:57, 2 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Well it will only be a day or two until most of the subcategories are created. The good thing about specific groups, I guess, is that once someone is in "Australian batsmen" and you want to change some groups above that, you only need to change "Australian batsmen"'s category, not all the individuals. I've already made some changes from the diagram above (eg. sportspeople between "Cricketers" and "People", "Australian cricketers" and "Australian people") Chuq 23:11, 2 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Home International Footy About Footy Player Bios Here is an article written by James Brunmeier from the Milwaukee Bombers - the winner of the 2005 Macquarie University Australian Football Scholarship. James is a student at UW-Eau Claire and will spend the next several months playing Australian football and taking classes at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. The following article briefly details the roots of Australian football and the development of international footy, particularly in the United States. Australian Football There are many theories how today’s game of Australian Football developed. It usually comes down to who you are asking. The prominent Australian historian Geoffrey Blainey wrote that cricket players developed it in the 1850s to stay in shape in the off season. Some believe it was started by business men as an alternative to rugby: a game where they could show up to work on Monday without a black eye or mangled ear. But no matter its roots, there is no arguing its impact in Australia, and in recent years, the world.

I am an avid fan of the Indian national team, and I have never missed any of their matches played in Kuala Lumpur. Sometimes India plays brilliant hockey, and there are other times which are a let down .. e.g., the Commonwealth Games hockey semi-final where India lost 0-1 after attacking throughout the match!!!! I am looking for videos of some memorable Indian hockey victories. Can anybody help me? Name: George Warwick

Mary Hile-Nepfel
Mary Hile-Nepfel
Hile-Nepfel, the first All-American in Lady Dons basketball history, is one of just seven players to have a number retired in the rafters of War Memorial Gym. Hile-Nepfel was also the first woman to be inducted into the USF Hall of Fame in 1985. USF Basketball Legend: Mary Hile-Nepfel has a passion for the USF women's basketball program and has proudly represented the university as both a player and a coach for a good portion of the last 24 years. Just six seasons after completing an All-American playing career with the Lady Dons in 1981, Hile-Nepfel returned to the Hilltop campus in 1987 along with her husband, Bill Nepfel, to become USF's co-head coaches. Their success as one of just a handful of husband-wife coaching tandems in the country was highlighted by three consecutive WCC Tournament Championships followed by three straight trips to the NCAA Tournament. Hile-Nepfel, now in her 15th season, and second as sole head coach, faces the challenge of leading Lady Dons basketball into the future with the same characteristic enthusiasm and drive as she demonstrated during her playing days. Mary's intensity on the court and her strong will to win characterized her as a player and are the same traits she instills in her players today.

I was always into games right from my earliest memories as a child. Having no brother but two sisters meant that my gaming experiences were to begin with a rather solitary affair. I can remember playing Totopoly for months on end playing all players and providing detailed tables of results for each race. I avidly visited (and still do) Toy Shops to look at the board games. I bought copies of the usual stuff, The Waddingtons Years with Monopoly, Totopoly, Air Charter, Blast Off, Formula One, Air Charter, Spy Ring, 4000AD etc. I branched into games like Escape from Colditz, Finance, Airways, Microdot and Risk
At the same time I was heavily into wargames and bought quite a number of those too, Red storm rising, onslaught, Normandy, Panzer Leader and all the Wargamer magazine stuff.
I eventually ventured into Speed Circuit, Win Place and Show and Railway Rivals from Avalon Hill and games like Sorcerers Cave, Mystic Wood, Dragonlance, Heroquest etc.

Returning to the Pavilion at tea time on the second day of the un-official match against India which ended in a draw. The other batsman is my cousin Jahangir Shah Badshah. Other BD players are Rafiqual Alam and Hira along with couple of kids who entered the field some how. Being introduced to Ex-President General Ershad, prior to the first match of the season for Abahani in 1981. Others in the picture from left are; Azam, Tamin, Belal, Hasan Jr. Misha, myself, Dipu and Rafiqual Alam. Breaking New Ground: Sania Mirza
In the second feature of the new WTATour.com series, "Breaking New Ground," John Berkok looks at Sania Mirza's rise to prominence and its effect on sports-loving Indians
"I see something very bright coming up, but we need patience. Now that people know that the game is there and how much hard work it takes, I'm sure we'll have a lot more Indian women on the circuit very soon." Under a clear evening sky in Stanford, California, Sania Mirza walked out onto centre court to a sell-out crowd at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium to contest her second round match against former world No.1 Venus Williams. Contrary to what could be assumed, however, the capacity crowd of 4,353 was just as much a function of Mirza's presence as it was the reigning Wimbledon champion's. The Indian teenager has been breaking new ground this season for a country of over one billion people, and it doesn't look like anything is going to stop her from going even higher in the years to come. Born in the heavily-populated city of Mumbai, which is situated on the western coast of India along the Arabian Sea, and raised in the smaller, more laid-back city of Hyderabad on the eastern coast along the Bay of Bengal, Mirza's focus during her early years was not always on tennis. She began playing the sport at age six when her mother Naseema, who runs her own printing press, would take her to the local tennis courts during summer holidays on the way to swimming, always one of her other main interests. The young girl quickly took a liking to the sport, but had to overcome obstacles from the beginning.
