However, someone who has a Hispanic background could be from Cuba, Argentina, Peru, Mexico, the Phillipines, the Caribbean islands, or any nation in addition to Spain or Portugal. Key Points to Hispanic Research
  • The Spanish are great recordkeepers. Not only are there extensive Church documents pertaining to the lives of both the rich and the poor, there are also numerous types of civil records, including tax lists, military service, and enumerations.

hile researching this article I realized there are three certain things in life for those of us living in Euro-North American societies and many other parts of the world: death, taxes and the census. Many governments, past and present, do not rely on population records — a census — to collect and spend taxes. Just as taxes are often collected for reasons other than paying for government services, censuses are performed for reasons other than a head count. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS Church) defines a census on their FamilySearch Web site [http://www.familysearch.org] as "An official count of the population taken by a government or church." Censuses come in two kinds: head counts with little or no personal information, and a nominal census, i.e., a census with names or an enumeration which identifies each individual counted by name, as a minimum, and other personal information. (For a concise history of the census, see Infoplease.com [http://www.infoplease.com]

South Africa
  • Introduction South Africa is one of the most geographically varied countries of the African continent, comprising territory that ranges from the rolling, fertile plains of the highveld and the wide open savanna of the Eastern Transvaal to the Kalahari desert and the peaks of the Drakensberg Mountains. While all of its diverse regions offer ample opportunities for adventure travel, the focus in South Africaas in much of sub-Saharan Africais the safari. In addition to possessing two of the world's most renowned wildlife reserves, the Kruger and the Kalahari Gemsbok National Parks, the country contains over a dozen smaller regional parks and reserves. In addition, with its excellent road and rail systems, its abundance of top-rated accommodations, and its bountiful farmlands and vineyards, South Africa allows visitors ample opportunity for more luxurious comfort along with adventuresome excitement.
  • South Africa is located, as one might expect, on the southern tip of Africa. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the west, the Indian Ocean on the south and east. Along its northern border, from west to east, lie Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, and to the northeast are Mozambique and Swaziland. Wholly-enclosed by South Africa, and situated in its eastern central plain, is the independent kingdom of Lesotho.

90. The Garling Homepage - Genealogy In Mecklenburg / Emigration / Introduction
The Garling Homepage is engaged with genealogy. The Emigration movement spreadto other European countries as well, but Mecklenburg was especially hit,
http://www.emecklenburg.de/Garling/emigrat/emi_intr.html
EVERY THIRD MECKLENBURGER LIVED OUT OF THEIR HOME COUNTRY
In the middle of the past century the country in Europe belonged to the areas that were worst affected by the emigration movement
Ich kann den Blick nicht von Euch wenden;
Dem Schiffer Eure Habe dar!" I can't turn my eyes away from you;
I have to watch you all the time:
How you liberally give
the skipper your last dime! (Poem by F. Freiligrath, translation: Daniela Garling) Painful feelings moved the poet Ferdinand Freiligrath, when in the middle of the past century he was confronted with the fate of German emigrants, that left Germany over the harbours of the North Sea, heading for other continents in the hope for a better, more independent life. Feelings, that we can understand. Mass emigration is a signal for a severe social crisis in any country. What reasons did so many people have to leave their country and hope for a better life abroad in the 19th century? The emigration wave was not limited to Mecklenburg. It also covered all other parts of the fragmented German Empire. In all several million people emigrated from Germany. The Emigration movement spread to other European countries as well, but Mecklenburg was especially hit, in fact, after 1850 it was after Ireland and Galicia the third worst of emigration affected region in Europe. "And why have you left Germany" asked Heinrich Heine 1834, when he met German emigrants in France on their way to North Africa. "The land is good, and we would have liked to stay", they said, "but we just couldn't stand it any longer."

"Lincolnshire, maritime county in East of England, bounded North by Yorkshire, from which it is separated by the Humber; East by the North Sea; South by Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, and Norfolk; and West by Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
Lincolnshire is the second largest county in England. For a very long time it has been divided into 3 'parts' -namely, the Parts of Lindsey, the Parts of Kesteven, and the Parts of Holland. Generally speaking the land is flat and low, especially on the coast, which in some parts requires an embankment to check the encroachments of the sea. The Wolds, or Chalk Hills, in the Northeast, are about 47 miles long and 6 miles broad." From Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles
