    General Osteoarthritis Research:
    Osteoarthritis over the millennia

December 2002. In this examination of the skeletal remains of 119 individuals older than 20 years of age at death and buried in two Central European cemeteries dated as far back as 7700 years (5700 BC) the propensity for developing degenerative disease seemed to vary among individuals, as it does today. The hands, shoulder, and hip were common targets of osteoarthritis, as they are today, and the elbow was more likely to be affected in the Neolithic and medieval populations than in contemporary populations. When age of the individuals is taken into account, the prevalence of knee osteoarthritis does not seem to have changed substantially over the millennia.

Dogs Camps Can Be a Popular Getaway for Dogs and Their People With about 24 million people per year nationwide traveling with their family dog, it may not be surprising that there are over 20 dog camp sessions offered throughout the United States and Canada. A dog camp is not a kennel where you drop your dog off while you go on a vacation. It is a planned group event where everyone brings their dog and the majority if not all of the itinerary revolves around dog-friendly activities that you and your pooch can participate in together. Some dog lovers come to let their already well-mannered pooch socialize with other four-legged friends, some to teach their dog a new trick or a new sport, and some just to give their dog a chance to be a dog on a perfect "just for dogs" getaway. One of the big advantages at a dog camp is that all of the people attending either have a dog or are dog lovers and everyone participating can share and enjoy the common bond of canine companionship.

Hello Folks Sorry, nearly a month late so two months together. Between a bit of ill health (nothing serious) and doing some construction work for one of my daughters I haven't had a great deal of time. Missed mid month also. Thanks for all the "where is it?" enquiries. If I owe you email please understand my drafts box contains 529 unanswered messages. At an average of 15 minutes each (some more, some less) that amounts to over 130 hours of work... oh dear... they often come in faster than I can answer.

He is managing, just, in his own home, 3-4 miles away and is still driving, though his licence is under review. Language comprehension was the first and still the most serious difficulty. This was not picked up in the early stages being masked by deafness due to tinnitus. He is still pretty good on regular activities, shopping, meals, caring for the cat, driving, seeing to his finances etc. But things that never did hold much interest for him… cleaning, clothes renewal, changing sheets etc. are now never done unless I chivvy, and enormous reluctance is manifest.

Murwillumbah Town You'll hear locals refer to it as "Mur-bah" and debate the claim that Murwillumbah means "Place of many possums" in the local aboriginal dialect.
With a number of historic buildings in the art deco or federation style along Main Street, many of the shop fronts reflect the era, while there are also a tempting range of al fresco cafes and eateries scattered along its length for you to sit, relax and enjoy the ambience of a small country town. Very much a traditional style agricultural centre, Murwillumbah is located nearly exactly in the middle of the Mt Warning caldera, and is not only the seat of the Tweed Shire Council, but also serves as the commercial centre for the smaller villages and residential developments in the valley.

How do you teach young pregnant women, many of whom have low literacy levels, about safe food handling? FSIS is taking a novel approach by featuring rap music videos and real-life food handling situations in a new video, GET WITH A SAFE FOOD ATTITUDE . The video follows four pregnant women (who make up the fictionalized rap group "The 2-B Moms") as they learn about food safety and preventing foodborne illness. A limited number of complimentary copies of the video were distributed to state and local WIC offices, high schools with on-site health clinics, state health and agriculture departments, USDA's extension service and health organizations that represent pregnant women. GET WITH A SAFE FOOD ATTITUDE is intended for use in educational settings. The video is suitable for viewing in a waiting room or classroom, or during one-on-one counseling sessions. Viewers will learn about various aspects of food safety in nine segments, each less than 5 minutes long.
