KENTUCKY: VIRGINIA: The latest Richmond Times-Dispatch /Mason-Dixon poll shows this year's race for Governor has further narrowed. Lurking in the background of the 30th annual Conservative Political Action Conference , which met in Arlington Virginia from January 30 to February 1, was the ghost of the feminist movement. The issues raised by feminism are no longer front and center, as they were when about a hundred conservatives from four organizations first gathered 30 years ago, but they lingered like an ethereal presence, providing foil and target for speeches and exhibits.
This year's conference celebrated the 20th anniversary of the defeat of the Equal Rights Amendment by honoring Phyllis Schlafly at the first evening's banquet. Schlafly recounted her battle against the ERA, which failed to be ratified by the June 1982 deadline, from her "kitchen table" despite a bipartisan establishment who said she could not win. She described the pro-ERA leadership as "a motley collection of harridans, harpies, hags and disheveled lesbians."

But despite this, the two major parties in the United States draw supporters from all races, regions, religious groups and, income and education levels. People used to the stable and long-established political parties of the UK or USA may be surprised at the regular shifting of Japanese party politics. Political parties only emerged after the Meiji Restoration of 1868. In the following century or so, there were dozens of new parties born, dissolved and merged. There are currently (May, 2000) seven major political parties, described below. Changes happen with frightening regularity but we try to keep this page up to date. Of the seven parties, the LDP, New Komeito and Hoshuto form the current coalition government.

IC's Best of the Web Hillary Clinton tells racist joke - but where is the outrage?
We caught this in a link to ABC from the Drudge Report, otherwise, we haven't hardly heard a word about it in the mainstream press. Hillary Clinton made a derogatory joke about people of Indian origins working at gas stations, stating that Gandhi used to run a gas station. If a Republican, say Trent Lott, had made a similar remark, they would have been forced to step down from their position. Such ethics the left and the left-leaning media have. We also spotted Anne Frank's "The Diary of a Young Girl," Buckley's "God and Man at Yale," and oddly enough, Rachel Carson's "Slient Spring." Even odder, #100 is Kenneth Starr's "The Starr Report." We somehow doubt he's proud of this book. Break Their Haughty Power: The working class and the employing class have nothing in common

The Most Racist Political Party Let’s imagine a country with two major political parties: X and Y. Every single year, Party X strongly supports a state-sponsored racism program, denies the right to choose to millions of the country’s citizens, and ignores the correlation between a poor education and crime. One would think that Party X would have faded into history long, long ago. Sadly, however, Party X continues to remain strong. By using an accepted racism, Party X repeatedly tells the minority groups that they are not intelligent enough, smart enough, nor clever enough to compete openly against the demographic in the majority. They attempt to disguise this obvious contempt for the minorities with various terminology, but the basics of the program are clear: without the government’s, and Party X’s, help, the minorities would be unable to hold the same jobs or receive the same higher-education opportunities available to the majority. This would not be nearly as serious a problem if Party X supported the right of choice when it came to the education of its constituents. Instead, Party X adamantly refuses to allow minority parents the opportunity to choose the best course of action for their child, insisting instead that they keep their child in a school that does not meet the full needs of their child’s education and, in effect, prevents that child from receiving as complete and thorough an education as those in the majority. Through these choice provisions, a parent would be able to hold the school accountable for the education they deliver – much in the same way that they are able to hold their mechanic responsible for their car’s functioning or in the way that the parent themselves are held accountable for their actions at their own job.

Dallas Morning News ^ WASHINGTON – North Korea pledged Monday to eliminate its nuclear weapons and nuclear programs in exchange for energy and security, but a day later it demanded that the U.S. give it a light-water nuclear reactor before it rejoins the international Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and ends its weapons program. The North’s Foreign Ministry made the demand Tuesday after having agreed Monday at six-nation talks in Beijing to give up its arms efforts, rejoin the treaty, and accept inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency. During the talks, North Korea had demanded that it be given the light-water reactor – a type...

Choose another article: Intro Register To Vote Elections 2004 Political Parties Parties List Further Information ONE LIFE LEGAL VOTING Parties Watching Parliament on TV can be really confusing. But it is important to know the difference between the MPs and what they stand for so your vote can go to the candidate, MP, or party who you think will represent the interests of you and your community. Political parties in the UK are voted in by the electorate - majority of the population over the age of 18 who are entitled to vote . The process is pretty simple:
  • The Prime Minister can call for a General Election at any time within 5 years of his or her term to choose the UK government. A minimum of 3 weeks later there's an election, where you get to vote for your Member of Parliament (MP) for your local constituency and as a result, you vote for the UK government. MPs can be independent, representing their own manifesto, or members of a Political Party (e.g Conservative Party, Labour Party, Liberal Democrats, Plaid Cymru, SNP, etc) who represent their political party's manifesto.
