Who am I in the Lives of Children? The Child Study major at Saint Joseph College integrates the academic and practical study of children, allowing students to gain the knowledge and skills they need to work in a variety of professional settings. Child Study is an excellent major for students who want to teach and for those who seek a growing number of other dynamic careers working with children. The strengths of our program include: Interdisciplinary Study Child Study is an interdisciplinary major focused on understanding children from a variety of different perspectives including child development, psychology, sociology, and other related disciplines. The curriculum emphasizes the varied contexts in which children develop, including family, school, community, and culture. Some of the elective courses in the major include: Children's Literature; Black Families in the United States; Human Heredity and Birth Defects.
