Welcome to the new Southington Public Schools website! Southington Public Schools Proud Recipient of the 2005 What Parents Want Award and the Expansion Magazine Gold Medal Mission Statement THE SOUTHINGTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS THROUGH A HOME, SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP, ARE COMMITTED TO PROVIDING EACH AND EVERY STUDENT MULTIPLE SKILLS AND OPPORTUNITIES TO DEMONSTRATE SUCCESS ACADEMICALLY, SOCIALLY, AND EMOTIONALLY AND TO BECOME PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS WHO APPRECIATE THE VALUE OF LIFELONG LEARNING IN A DIVERSE AND CHANGING WORLD. (rev 1/2004) Message From Our Superintendent of Schools Welcome to the Southington Public Schools website. This website has been designed to provide you an opportunity to take a closer look at the tradition of innovation and excellence that has been the hallmark of the Southington Public Schools. Southington, located in the geographic center of Connecticut, has a population of over 40,000 people. It has shopping centers, industrial parks, and a well developed downtown. Yet, it retains a rural character of farms, orchards and woodlands. We are approximately 20 minutes from Hartford, 30 minutes from New Haven with easy access to all major highways. Southington has one of Connecticut’s largest public school systems servicing over 7,000 students. We have 30 certified administrators with close to 600 teachers. Southington Public Schools consists of eight neighborhood elementary schools which serve students in grades K-5, two middle schools each serving over 800 students and Southington High School, a Blue Ribbon High School with over 2,200 students in grades 9-12. We also have an alternative education program, Alta at North Center. This program services a high school population that meets the entry requirements of the program. A facilities master plan has been developed to meet the expanding enrollment needs of the district.
