Tutorial: General: Wireless Network Security
The topic of internet security is one that has appeared in various publications and in the media over the last 12 months. Internet users are frequently being told to make sure their computer is secure by using a NAT router for connecting to their ADSL connection (this acts as a hardware firewall), using Anti-Virus software and a software firewall. However, with the advents of wireless networking, security is becoming even more crucial. Broadband is becoming ever more popular, and so wireless networking is now increasing in popularity. Wireless networks are now relatively safe enough for use in homes and businesses but it is worth taking some steps to prevent something untoward gaining control of the network.
  • Change default password on wireless ADSL router and if applicable, wireless access points. At the centre of a wireless home network will be a wireless ADSL router and possibly some wireless access points to improve the coverage of the network around the house. However, it is important that after purchasing this equipment that the default username and password for the router and wireless hardware is changed immediately as the default username and password could easily be found out by someone wishing to cause some mischief on the network.
  • Change the System ID - Wireless networking devices come with a default system ID called the SSID (Service Set Identifier) or ESSID (Extended Service Set Identifier). It is easy for a hacker to find out what the default identifier is for each manufacturer of wireless equipment and so it is necessary for this to be changed to something unique. It is important that the SSID is not changed to something that could be easily guessed by a prospective hacker. Many ADSL routers will allow you to hide the SSID.

The aim of this tutorial is to give you an insight into the world of security and give you some basic tips and information on how to secure your PC from the outside world. It will also describe what viruses, Trojans and Spyware / Malware are and how to prevent them from getting on your PC. It will also give you information and links to a number of well known (and perhaps some not so well known) software applications and web sites specifically related to the security and protection of your system.
The software included here is for Windows based PCs. At the time of writing I do not have any details of similar packages available for other Operating Systems like Linux and Mac OS. In some cases, the main website related to the software will include details of software that manufacturer supplies for other OSs. Please note that the links, software and information included in this tutorial are in no way endorsed by or are recommendations from PlusNet. It is information gathered by members of the tutorial team and collated here for your use. Downloading and use of such software is at the owner's risk and no liability is given to their suitability. PlusNet or the tutorial team accepts no responsibility from any loss or damage caused by installing such software. A small glossary There are several terms and names that exist related to security what follows is a brief description of what they mean:

Docs/Tutorials
This is a collection of just about all the tutorials and docs I know of on the net (over 200 at last count). I linked individual files, not whole pages as in other link collections, so it's hopefully easier to get to specific info. The thing is, though, that I only link stuff I consider useful from my point of view, so searching through other links might be your only option for finding what you want. But I try to make this a comprehensive and uselful resource which I'll be expanding as I find new stuff (and my own knowledge catches up :-), but if you know of any doc or whole category that I didn't include here and you'd like to see, feel free to tell me about it , as well as any other comments. Also, it seems like this page will be impossible to keep current, so if you see a broken link, I'd really appreciate you telling be about it, maybe even what's wrong with it. Thanks.
Now on to the good stuff...
If you need PostScript or PDF viewers, well there they are. For PS there's also the universal GhostScript that's way too big and unwieldy for my taste. If you know another free viewer I'd like to hear about it.

Connecting Your PC To Your XBox
Times viewed: Rating: Introduction
In order to connect to your Xbox you must create a simple network connection between your computer and your Xbox. There are three easy ways to do this. You can use a hub/switch, a router, or a crossover cable. This tutorial will show you how to configure the hardware. Remember though, You will not actually be able to login to your xbox until you have installed and configured the EvolutionX dashboard.
Xbox Network Connection using Hub
This is the most common network configuration and is also the easiest to setup.
Step #1: Plug your network cable(RJ-45 cable) that comes from your cable/DSL modem into the uplink port of your hub. (Make sure that your uplink is switched to "on").
Step #2: Take an RJ-45 cable and run it from one of the ports of the hub, directly to the Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your computer.

Search Engine Optimization
HTML Tutorials How to Make a Website Website Development ... How to Build a Website ADV Website Hosting Decisions
by Monique Angelich Your next question you ask yourself should be "What different types of hosting companies are out there, and why are the prices so different between companies?" Unix Servers The difference you will notice first will be the price. Usually about 50% higher than NT packages. Why? A Unix server is a more secure and stable type of web server, simply because it does not run in a Windows environment. If you are concerned with security above all else, this is the server you will need. There is one drawback, you cannot use Active Server Pages or VBScript on a Unix server. Another reason why hosting on a Unix server costs more? The computer itself costs much more than any other hosting computer, and takes longer for the hosting company to set up. If you use Microsoft Front Page, you will need to find a Unix server that offers Front Page Extensions. Front page extensions are what enables you to access your web page using Front Page to edit and update your website, and gives Front Page the ability to write your form codes and dynamic effects.

by Jason Reese So you want to make an Internet Radio station but you don't understand the long broadcasting documents, or ShoutCast instructions? While that and the fact that I know after hearing about the success I have had with setting up a radio station with Shoutcast, some people I know will want one of their own and will come to me for help when they hit the same pitfalls that I did. 1. Installation of needed components. Okay this is the easy part. All you need to do right now is download both the SHOUTCAST Plugin for windows and the SHOUTCAST DNAS SERVER if you haven't found a server on the net to host your station. One of my favorite hosts is here . (A 56 Kbps stream with 20 maximum listeners will run you $24.00 monthly or $61.20 per quarter from here.) Both of these programs can be downloaded from ShoutCast.com
