The Internet welcomes Kumbo to the information super highway
From the editorial suite
by
Country correspondent (Cameroon) Computers + Telecommunications in Africa Magazine. Now that Kumbo has gone into the information superhighway (information society) with the arrival of the Internet, it becomes very obvious for the inhabitants of this growing urban town to be informed on what the Internet is all about. As guest editor for this edition of Nso Voice, I bring to light what the Internet is all about and what opportunities are in store for the Kumbo inhabitants as they start acquainting themselves with the Internet. Internet is about modern communication. We are living in an age of communication, an era where communication technology has developed with a lot of rapidity until we have finally arrived the age of digital communication. "Internet, among other services is the center of modern digital communication. In particular, the World Wide Web (WWW) has become one of the most popular ways of communication around the world" according to the Korea UNESCO Youth center. Before I Proceed, there is one point, which I want to bring to light. Lots of names refer to the Internet and are being used over the world today. These include the information super highway, Cyber world, digital world, the net, World Wide Web, virtual world etc. these names all refer to the same thing. As Kumbo is getting set to receive the Internet, let us not get confused by these many names.

http://ianlivingston.com/threatmatrix/handbook/guide_to_jihad.htm
A Guide to Jihad on the Web By Stephen Ulph While the literature of jihad, as such, has been flying around the web almost as long as the web has been a mass communication medium, the post-9/11 period saw its conversion into a major distribution system for jihad-related material to a mass readership. In a sense, it has compensated for the loss of Afghanistan as a major training arena in both the ideological and tactical senses. The best illustration of this is perhaps the Peninsular Arab productions from the Sawt al-Jihad (The Voice of Jihad) stable, primarily the Sawt al-Jihad magazine itself, which deals primarily with doctrinal matters and the Mu'askar al-Battar (Al-Battar Training Camp), a publication specializing in the more practical aspects of the jihad. Though both web magazines ceased publication since late 2004, they remain the model, in terms of both production quality and format, for subsequent publications. Their complementary doctrinal-military role, for instance, has been imitated in Iraq with the new publications Majallat al-Fath (Conquest Magazine) and Dhurwat al-Sanam (The Pinnacle). The Military Arts Propaganda and Operational Morale The above documents marshaled a hefty complement of Islamic law citations to make the case. But the mujahideen have long been serviced by radical shaykhs to help negotiate the doctrinal terrain, all of which are available to the web surfer at times of need. The case of Shaykh Hamid bin al-Fahd and his treatise in defense of employing weapons of mass destruction against the infidel is famous. But the ideological underpinning is responsive at the detailed level, and impacts on the operational procedures of Islamist militants. A good example of this is Shaykh Ayyiri's Hidayat al-Hayara fi Jawaz Qatl al-Asara (The Gift for the Perplexed on the Permissibility of Killing Prisoners), where the practical considerations of the militant captors are embedded in doctrinal precedents to assuage potential doubts.

The History of Magick, Online
"…I know that online circles began by '85 or '86 at least on CompuServe those were before my time but an older member rejoined the service briefly and told us. We eventually grew into making a point of keeping the sabbats online, with periodic full and very occasional dark moon rituals. Eventually, by the mid-90's, there was also a women's group who met and did very informal rituals interspersed with talks, discussions, and lessons on a variety of topics.
As I recollect, it was a spontaneous idea to do ritual one of our number as I recollect had been bitten by a snake, and we wanted to send her healing to supplement that doctor thing. We'd been having regular weekly online meetings (chat sessions), which we pretty much enjoyed, and had developed "regular attendees", with the occasional new person popping in. We didn't really believe that an online ritual, with everyone sitting at separate computers miles and miles apart, could really generate anything, but on the other hand we wanted to do whatever we could regarding that one of us who was sick. After that first time, we realized how stunned we were that the energies could flow so well.
Eventually, this all developed into a "CompuCoven" nothing formal, no set membership (in those days, there was a fair bit less online traffic, for one thing)."

The Greatest Opportunity In The History Of The Church We live in a time of explosive change. "We won't experience 100 years of progress in the twenty-first century, but rather, we'll witness on the order of 20,000 years of progress (at today's rate of progress)."(1) And with this explosion, we have been given the greatest opportunity in the history of the church. Yetin what should be an awesome awakeningit's strange the church remains so ignorant of the future and lost in the past. In the words of "Ol' man river": "(It) mus' know sumpin' . . . but don't say nuthin' . . . jes' keeps rollin' along." Why the ignorance? The changes already underway are more profound than the Industrial Revolution, aviation, antibiotics, television, nuclear weapons, and anything else we choose to name all rolled into one. The "information age" alonewith its microchip/digital revolutionalready supersedes all the other social transformations of the past. And now, joining with other sciences, it offers even more spectacular breakthroughs. As example, the world-changing technologies already in motion include genetic engineering, molecular biology, robotics, nanotechnology, telecommunications, and alternative energy. Taken together, they promise an end to disease, indefinite life extensions, computer/mind interlinks, close-to-zero product costs, unlimited energy, and other breakthroughs too incredible to mention here.(2) (3)
