  • Wi-Fi Cruising: Italian Highways Go Wireless
Italian car drivers are getting very excited around the opportunities created by the new cutting-edge business initiative allowing individuals to buy Wi-Fi connection passes to hook up to the net while cruising the Sunshine Freeway ( Autostrada del Sole , linking Milan with Rome and Neaples - it is about 750 km long).
Photo credit: Igor Kasalovic Initially the highway hotspots are available only on certain parts of the A1 and A4 highways in the northern and more industrialized part of the country. The first highway hotspots have appeared on the A1 between Milano and Bologna and on the A4 between Milano and Brescia. Access to the Wi-Fi hot spots can be purchased on gas service stations on the highway itself.

You may also reach Brad at 580.628.6458. New developments in multimedia-related technology provide new opportunities for creative people in digital media. Therefore, the goal of the Digital Media Institute is to equip our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate their ideas through the art of advanced computer graphics. Our program focuses on the various methods used to organize and transform media, ideas and concepts of digital media into completed projects from start to finish showing the skill needed to gain employment. The students’ success will depend on a deep understanding of the digital media process and its diverse technologies. All students will be immersed into the essentials of web and broadcast design, 2D and 3D animation, and DVD and video production. These core competencies provide the basis for the specialized instruction specific within the Digital Media Institute. Thus, whether it is 3D modeling and animation, graphic design for print or broadcast, visual effects, web technologies, or combining new media experiences, students will gain the skills necessary not only to work effectively in the existing areas of digital media production but to help shape the future of technology as an employee as well.

Poker Craze Spurs Popular Emory Math Class
A few hands of Texas Hold 'Em poker or a round of backgammon are typical assignments in an Emory University seminar on "Mathematics in Sports, Games and Gambling." The course takes mathematical concepts and applies them "in ways you wouldn't normally think about," says instructor Ronald Gould, Goodrich C. White Professor of Mathematics. Students learn about probability, game theory and combinatorial design theory by investigating topics from the world of sports, competitive games of strategy, casino games, lotteries and the mathematical theory of games. When it comes to gambling, the course serves as a cautionary tale when students see just how bad their chances are of winning, says Gould. This International Youth Foundation (IYF) and Nokia initiative attempts to equip young people around the world with greater self-confidence and the ability to think creatively, communicate effectively, relate to others, and make a contribution. Through in-country programmes implemented by local non-governmental organisations, Make a Connection operates in 20 countries on 5 continents, with an impact on more than 180,000 youth.
