ACCOMPLISHMENTS Fighting Crime and Making Our Communities Safer Won thousands of prosecutions and criminal appeals against some of the most notorious criminals in the State. Prosecuted white collar criminals around the state, including those who preyed on the elderly from Yuma County to Mesa County, from Larimer County to Pueblo County, with millions in restitution ordered to be paid to victims, heavy prison sentences, and the recovery of millions of dollars for the State from Medicaid fraud prosecutions. Created the first-ever Attorney General Environmental Prosecutions Unit, obtaining fines and prison sentences for those willfully ignoring our environmental pollution laws, including obtaining what is believed to be the longest prison sentence for the commission of an environmental crime in the country. Created the first-ever Colorado Attorney General Fugitive Prosecutions Unit to work with Mexico to apprehend and prosecute murderers who have fled Colorado. This very successful partnership is an example of the kind of international cooperation critical to fighting global terrorism. Created the first-ever Attorney General Gang Prosecution Unit to target those who prey on our own communities. After only its first year of existence, Colorado's gang law enforcement community named the Attorney General's gang prosecutor "Gangfighter of the Year."

CSU professors make average salaries compared to peer institutions
By Chris Tarver May 09, 2005
In a list recently released by the American Association of University Professors, CSU ranks ninth out of 13 schools in terms of salaries paid to full-time professors. In the same list, CSU ranked seventh and sixth respectively in what the institution pays their associate professors and assistant professors. By definition an assistant professor is the entry-level teaching position related to pay grade, usually not tenured, but can become tenured after a probationary period. An associate professor is the mid-level teaching position related to a pay differential, which can be tenured or tenure-track, according to www.answers.com. "When compared to institutions that look like us (Internal Peers), our rank among the group improves with more recent hires..." Vice President of Administrative Services Keith Ickes wrote in an e-mail interview. "That is we rank better at associate professor level than we do at the full professor level and rank better still at the level of assistant professor."

INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Graduate work at the University of Colorado began on a small scale in 1892. Following some years of development, in 1909 the Graduate School was organized as a University-wide body with a separate faculty. The Graduate School consisted of faculty resident on the several campuses who organized programs within the constituent colleges and schools. This body operated under the leadership of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and System Dean of the Graduate School in conjunction with a University-wide Executive Committee charged with developing and effecting University-wide academic policy. Effective in 1999, each campus organized its graduate programs within an autonomous Graduate School. CU-Colorado Springs now has its own Graduate School with a Dean and a Graduate Executive Committee, who hold responsibility for the enforcement of Graduate School requirements and policies on this campus and for the development and approval of academic issues. The Graduate School provides oversight and coordination for all graduate programs on the campus.
