GUIDELINES FOR FACULTY AND STAFF APPLYING FOR EXTERNAL GRANTS (July, 2004)
The College encourages competitive grant seeking as a way to help maintain and enhance our prominence in liberal, higher education through the support of effective and innovative programs. The process of seeking a grant - developing a plan, enlisting colleagues' support and ideas, writing a proposal document and taking the action of submitting the proposal - can be very positive both for the College and for the individual grant-seeker, and ultimately rewarding beyond the financial grant itself. We hope you will find this general description of procedures to be helpful.
Campus grant-seekers fall into several categories: 1) Individual faculty or staff may be seeking funds for sabbatical projects, individual research projects, new course development, or professional development. 2.)

Grant resources on the Web: Where to look when you need funding
July/August 1999
Vol. 60, No. 7 by Dawn Ventress Kight and Emma Bradford Perry In this technological age and on the eve of the new millennium, few libraries have the resources to purchase, maintain, and support all of the programs and technological services offered at libraries, especially with escalating costs and declining budgets. It has become necessary to identify creative ways to support expanded library services. Many libraries have sought external grants from local, state and government agencies, and from corporate and private foundations.
Through a team approach, The John B. Cade Library at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has been successful in identifying and writing technology and distance learning grants that have been funded. A significant amount of information, which has facilitated the successful completion of the grant process, came from the various Web sites.
