West Virginia Public Television's Road to College Applying to colleges, securing financial aid, and taking all those admissions tests may seem like a process worthy of a degree itself. If you, your student, or your child feels stuck, West Virginia Public Television may be able to help. Road to College is an hour-long television program produced by WVPTV designed to help high school students with the college application process. Material covered in the program includes the decision to go to college; selecting the right college; the college application; SAT tests; the college essay requirement; college interviews; financial aid; FASFA forms; federal grants; scholarships; college loans; and acceptance notification. The program follows a fictional high school student and his parents from high school to the university. We see the problems in picking a college, applying to several colleges, filling out forms, and facing tuition costs from the family perspective. At the Web site, students, teachers, and parents will find a list of questions you should ask before applying and interviewing at a particular college; financial aid tips; links to other online resources for college admissions; a transcript of the television program and video ordering information; and quotations from famous Americans about why college is a valuable experience. Contributors include Cornel West, professor of Afro-American Studies at Princeton; former First Lady Barbara Bush; and Kunin, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education.
