Of course we have to watch those hens 3 times a day to make sure things are going fine. On the pipping day, we take the eggs to the hatcher where the humidity is at its highest. 2 days later a tiny baby bird is born. For the first 3 days of the baby's life, we just give them hydrating fluids every 2 hours. After that we feed them Kaytee formula until their weaning age.

Our Rasta was a cherished pet for nine years, and continues to be a great pet even in a breeding situation. They are not quite as demanding as other cockatoos, and not as loud either. What they lack in size they make up for in personality. They are not known for their talking ability, but they can pick up a small vocabulary. Rasta, the male is a 10 year old import, and a real sweetie. Rasta sure is a comical birds! He loves to hide seed in his feathers, and he will constantly invent new games. The group also was able to gain information from many sightings as the birds congregated in flocks of up to 400 or 500 in the friendly spirit that endeared itself to Commonwealth Games organisers.
