He was elected President after promising 65 different special interest groups he would cut the military budget and spend every penny on their particular agenda. He was sworn in on January 20, 1993. Four years later, on November 5, 1996, He was re-elected for a second four-year term. His lasting presidential legacy is that he became the only president of the 20th century to be impeached for lying under oath about his use of cigars with 21 year-old White House intern Monica Lewinski. The Clinton Collection President Clinton had little interest in reading, preferring TV and peeking through keyholes for his main sources of information. This resulted in the one of the smallest literary collections ever assembled for a presidential library. Fortunately, a number of the volumes in his personal library were collected before they made it to the shredder, and are preserved for posterity. A number of his more special volumes had the pages mysteriously glued together, but diligent restoration work by the U.S. Library of Congress Archives Restoration Section has opened them up for the public to view. President Clinton took great comfort in reading the classics. Among the greatest treasures in his personal collection were an original March 1986 copy of Playboy featuring the article "Can Jack Kemp Outplay Bill Bradley" It was believed that this was the principal document that made him decide to run for his first term.

America's First Black President
In a 1998 essay in the New Yorker , author Toni Morrison described Clinton as "our first black president. Blacker than any actual person who could ever be elected in our children's lifetime." She went on to say: Clinton displays almost every trope of blackness: single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald's -and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas. This is just another reason that the Republicans absolutely hated Clinton. "He's getting votes from the minorities just for being poor white trash fercrissakes!" He drove them utterly apeshit. The Republican leadership of the House could barely conceal their contempt for the man in their photo ops and press conferences. As far as they were concerned, Clinton was nothing more than a smarmy hick, the former governor of a backwater southern state, and corrupt as fuck. A guy that even had to lie about not inhaling In 1994, conservative religious whore Jerry Falwell released the straight-to-video documentary "The Clinton Chronicles: An Investigation into the Alleged Criminal Activities of Bill Clinton." The preacher aired excerpts from the tape on his weekly television show

First Inaugural Address
y fellow citizens, today we celebrate the mystery of American renewal. This ceremony is held in the depth of winter, but by the words we speak and the faces we show the world, we force the spring. A spring reborn in the world's oldest democracy, that brings forth the vision and courage to reinvent America. When our founders boldly declared America's independence to the world, and our purposes to the Almighty, they knew that America, to endure, would have to change. Not change for change sake, but change to preserve America's ideals: life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. Though we march to the music of our time, our mission is timeless. Each generation of American's must define what it means to be an American. On behalf of our nation, I salute my predecessor, President Bush, for his half-century of service to America. . .and I thank the millions of men and women whose steadfastness and sacrifice triumphed over depression, fascism and communism. Today, a generation raised in the shadows of the Cold War assumes new responsibilities in a world warmed by the sunshine of freedom, but threatened still by ancient hatreds and new plagues. Raised in unrivalled prosperity, we inherit an economy that is still the world's strongest, but is weakened by business failures, stagnant wages, increasing inequality, and deep divisions among OUR OWN people.

By Roland Flamini
UPI Chief International Correspondent
Washington, DC, Oct. 20 (UPI) Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has set his sights on becoming U.N. secretary-general. A Clinton insider and a senior U.N. source have told United Press International the 56-year-old former president would like to be named leader of the world body when Kofi Annan's term ends early in 2006. "He definitely wants to do it," the Clinton insider said this week. A Clinton candidacy is likely to receive overwhelming support from U.N. member states, particularly the Third World. Diplomats in Washington say Clinton would galvanize the United Nations and give an enormous boost to its prestige. But the former president's hopes hang on a crucial question that will not be addressed until after the presidential elections: can he get the support of the U.S. government a prerequisite for nomination? The political wisdom is that a second George W. Bush presidency would cut him off at the pass. The notion of Clinton looming large in the international arena from "the glass tower" in New York would be intolerable to the Bush White House. If Democratic candidate, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., wins on Nov. 2 the prospect of Clinton as secretary-general won't exactly be welcome either, but Kerry would find it much harder if not impossible to go against it.

Birthplace:
Hope, Ark.
William Jefferson Clinton was born William Jefferson Blythe III in Hope, Ark., on Aug. 19, 1946. He was named for his father, who was killed in an automobile accident before Clinton's birth. Virginia Kelley, his mother, eventually married Roger Clinton, a car dealer, whose surname the future president later adopted. In high school in Hot Springs, Ark., Clinton considered becoming a doctor, but politics beckoned after a meeting with President John F. Kennedy in Washington, D.C., on a Boys' Nation trip. He earned a B.S. in international affairs in 1968 at Georgetown University, having spent his junior year working for Arkansas Senator J. William Fulbright. He was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford between 1968 and 1970. He then attended Yale Law School, where he met his future wife, Hillary Rodham, a Wellesley graduate. The couple has one child, Chelsea. In his second year, Clinton faced persistent troubles on the domestic front, with acrimonious battles raging over health care, welfare reform, and crime prevention. A health care reform package crafted by his wife failed to gain sufficient support. Clinton had to reduce his objective from massive overhaul to incremental reform.

Online LifeSiteNews.com Editorial - Bill Clinton's Messianic Complex
"The evil that is in the world almost always comes of ignorance, and good intentions may do as much harm as malevolence if they lack understanding." Albert Camus So, you thought Bill Clinton and his endless silly shenanigans were history? You'd broken out your finest bottle of champagne to celebrate? Think again. William Jefferson Clinton is making one doozie of a come back. If his recent efforts are any clue, Saviour of the World is at least one possible new title ringing in the ears of the one-time controversial but inexplicably well-loved former United States president. With the first annual meeting of the ambitious Clinton Global Initiative officially getting under way this Fall it appears that good 'ol Bill is finally taking one small step towards ending world poverty, uniting those torn apart by religious tension, and saving the global environment. Of course, it's possible that all may not be as it seems; as conservative blogger and radio personality Shaun Pierce prophetically observes, "Beneath the surface, there is a deep vein of politics in Clinton's international activities as ex-president."

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) Former President Bill Clinton said his weight problem and brush with death are the catalysts behind his foundation's initiative of tackling childhood obesity. Once famous for his love of fast food, Clinton told CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta that bad health habits since childhood led to his September 2004 quadruple bypass surgery. That operation, he said, opened his eyes to a larger issue, and he turned his attention to the problem of overweight American children. "The brush with death I had maybe had the biggest impact of all," Clinton recalled. "I realized that one more time I've been given another chance, and I wanted to make the most of it."
