Pastore Passaro, professor of modern languages at Central Connecticut State University, is author of the new book Representation of Women in Classical, Medieval and Renaissance Texts (Edwin Mellen Press, Lewiston, NY). Professor Passaro's work explores the idealization of women in classical, medieval and Renaissance texts, and shows connections between literary masterpieces. She demonstrates how authors consciously or unconsciously interact with each other, regardless of time and boundaries. Passaro also presents biographical and autobiographical sketches of heroines, as well as their work and legacies. Finally, she examines how an imaginary world of women is formed in men’s minds. As Professor Passaro writes in her introduction: “[Male] Poets love to write about women. I write about the imagination of women, love, and time. But the book is about time in a special way. It concerns historical time. It returns to an author of the classical past, [the pre-Christian era Roman poet] Vergil, and moves through the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, and to a modern interpreter of the Renaissance, [19
