Many links are dead, and there are hundreds of of additional resources around. Manual maintence of this list long ago became unfeasible. I do intend to update it, once I have located good links management software.] This page attempts to track ALL Byzantine material on the Internet, and ALL significant entry points for Medieval studies. Ancient and Classical links, except insofar as they impinge directly on Byzantine and Western Medieval matters, should be sought out via the direct links provided to ARGOS associates which track and maintain sites devoted to the Ancient world. Since this page was begun, the Medieval and Byzantine Internet has exploded in size. As a result, although I will take suggestions, I will no longer add the following materials:

Research Guide for Classical Studies: Library Resources Beginning Your Research If you are unsure where to begin, you might start by reading a quick overview on the subject in one of the encyclopedias or dictionaries, in particular the Oxford Classical Dictionary . You should also search Acorn to see what books are available in this library. Then search for articles and books in the Classics databases . These sources index recent scholarship, and will provide references to items published on a subject, whether or not they are owned by the Vanderbilt libraries. To determine whether the library has an article, in print or online, look up the journal title ( not the article title) in Acorn. Selected Library Resources Many sources for this field are only available in print, and may never come online. Resources for Classical Studies links to key databases, electronic journals, and Internet sites. The remainder of this guide identifies particularly significant print sources in the Central Library. Medieval Philosophy
Medieval philosophy is conventionally construed as the philosophy of Western Europe between the decline of classical pagan culture and the Renaissance. Such a broad topic cannot be covered in detail in a single article, and fortunately there is no need to do so, since other articles in this Encyclopedia treat individual medieval philosophers and topics. The present article will confine itself to articulating some of the overall contours of medieval philosophy. The reader should refer to the items listed under Related Entries below for more detailed information on narrower subjects.

DECEMBER 1999 MEDIEVAL LATIN COMMENTARIES ON CLASSICAL AUTHORS
Organized by Shirley Werner, Rutgers University [THE PANEL AS DESCRIBED IN THE CALL FOR PAPERS] The Medieval Latin Studies Group invites abstracts for its 1999 APA panel on medieval Latin commentaries on classical authors. Such commentaries constitute an important part of
medieval scholarship. The panel will explore different aspects of this long tradition of exegesis and interpretation. Proposals on a variety of topics are welcome, and may include studies of the ongoing tradition of commentary on particular classical works or authors; of particular commentaries (published or unpublished); of the medieval scholia that were written
in the margins of the manuscripts of classical authors, and served as a scribe's or reader's commentary; and of other kinds of writing, such as works on grammar, in which classical
authors are discussed. Papers may consider the place of commentary within literary culture, in the schools, or in other social and historical contexts; or may explore theoretical and
interpretive issues such as methodology, ideology, and literary criticism. The period covered is potentially wide; the panel encourages submissions that touch on the background of

Classical Studies Collection Collection Overview
The classical studies collection is developed to support the teaching of the Greek and Latin languages and the study of Greek and Latin literatures in the Classical Studies Department . Emphasis is placed on the classical periods for both languages and on the modern period for Greek. Literature is collected in translation to support comparative literary studies and introductory courses. Modern Greek literature and materials on modern Greek history and culture have been acquired by direct purchase in Greece, thanks to periodic visits by a member of the Department. The bulk of English language and bilingual acquisitions are acquired through Yankee Book Peddler. Given the small size of the budget, great reliance is placed on other, larger subject funds for materials relevant to Classical Studies, e.g., Philosophy and History. Rapid advances in computer and networking technology have resulted in the acquisition of significant electronic resources, including electronic versions of familiar classical studies indexes and digitized full-text editions of primary sources. Classical Studies has been a pioneer in the field of digitized texts and BC has the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae, one of the earliest collections of electronic texts produced by modern scholarship. It also has Perseus, a CD-ROM multimedia product which together with the

http://www.timelessmyths.com/classical/aboutgreek.html
When I started Timeless Myths on April, 1999, the first thing I worked on was the Greek mythology, beginning with the Olympians, Trojan War, Perseus and part the life of Heracles (Hercules). Since then, this section had grown considerably over the years. In September of 2000, I had added references to the Roman deities and some Roman legends about Aeneas ( The Aeneid ) and the Roman kings (in the Tales of Rome ). It wasn't until the February of 2001 that I had changed this section from "Greek Mythology" to "Classical Mythology", mainly because a number of my sources come from Roman authors. And since some of the myths told by the Romans were the same as those told by the Greeks, it was necessary to make this change. The mixture of Greek and Roman sources justify the need to change the name to "Classical Mythology". However, this very page, titled About Classical Myths, had not been updated since I first wrote this page. So I thought it was time to modify this page. Please note that when I started on Timeless Myths, I had relied on reading translation of ancient sources (for the Classical Mythology). There are a number of medieval or Renaissance authors as well, who wrote on classical subjects. Please forgive me if I had ignored these medieval authors for the classical myths. (Note also that I did use medieval writers for my Norse, Celtic and Arthurian pages.)

This index is by no means comprehensive, but many of the larger established sources of electronic text are listed, together with some smaller, more specialised resources. Please note that many of the general resources linked from here divide resources into subject areas. We have tried to provide indications of the type of text available from the resources listed, both in terms of subject matter and format. Additional tools for searching for and looking up phrases, or strings, are also mentioned where appropriate. The categories used in the index are meant to be helpful. Some texts fall into more than one group. For example, a French text might well be of historical interest. In such cases, we have tried to use the most appropriate category.
